Fan motor behind fuses
We have a 2002, 2404LT. My wife noticed a sound like a fan trying to come on behind the fuse panel. It does this every few seconds. What is this and should I be concerned at this point? Is this normal? Ron

I believe that's a fan in your converter, Ron. It should only be running if you are plugged into shore power. (This is assuming it's not the refrigerator ventilation fan, which runs periodically if you turn it on and the refrigerator is on.)

We are plugged into shore power. The fan is constantly coming on and going off every 20-30 seconds. That just doesn't seem right to me.

I think it's thermally controlled, and runs in response to the heat generated in the converter. I rarely use mine, so I can't say if the "on-off" behavior you're seeing is normal. In my trailer, in Arizona, it seems to mostly be on.

I hope that's normal operation because mine does the exact same thing!

Ron, if your model is a 2404, you have a 24' 2004 trailer, not a 2002. Just an FYI.

The fans usually run only when there is a heavy draw on the battery such as the fridge in 12 volt mode, if the battery has been run down to a very low level, which you shouldn't do, or when you have lots of lights turned on and maybe 12 volt devices plugged it to the lighter receptacle.

That's what concerns me. We are plugged into shore power and nothing is on.
no AC, frig. or lights. It rotates on and off every 20-30 seconds. That just doesn't seem right. Ron

What is your battery condition? It could be putting a heavy draw on the converter. Disconnect the battery and see if that makes any difference.
The converter may be on its way out.
