Default Monitor probe doesn't work.

This is the lights that tell you if black and grey water are full. Also fresh watrer level and battery charge. This is if my memory serves me well. When we got the 1996 HiLo last summer only a few lights worked. DH bought a new panel display. Now nothing lights up. He tested it with his vold meter and power is getting to the monitor. Dh says we don't need this to work. I would like it fixed. DH says he thinks the wire runs behind the refrigerator. No ground and possibly a corosion problem where the wire cionects to the probe. Anybody know how the wire is routed. Would love to install Horbst (sp). probes. Some people call these idiot lights. In our old HiLo our monitor panel never worked. Sorry about the typos.

Sam, have your Husband check what he has guessed to be the problem. I think he's right. If none of them work, it sounds to me like the ground wire is not attached and is possibly broken. The point where the wires connect to the probes is fairly easy to get to, if you crawl under the trailer tanks. They are fairly exposed and I'd suspect they could corrode pretty easily too.

I can't tell you how your wires are routed, unfortunately, but I'd think he could check the ground connection with the continuity function of his multi-meter. I'm guessing it grounds to the trailer frame, but I'm relying on memory here and it's been a few years since I worked with this system.

I replaced all my grey and black tank probes with the Horst Miracle Probes, and have had excellent results with them. They're not too expensive and not too hard to put in (the highest was the most difficult).
