Review for service work at J&R in Ohio.
1996 26ft. HiLo Classic. Spoke with Jim on the phone twice before we traveled to Ohio. Very willing to answer all my questions concerning problems. I sent him a list of maintenance items. Arrived on Oct 21st at 4PM. Did a walk through and reviewed problems. Took very good notes. Tuesday and Wednesday were seal replacement.Even put sturdy seal on the screen door bottom. Also replaced the seal along the bottom of the door. Cables adjusted and now we no longer have top half creep. Couldn't open the cupboard all the way as the door would catch on the vanity. Attached the bracket on the door to under couch storage. Said the factory didn't put in long enough screw. Adjusted the bracket/slide on a drawer that kept pulling out. Discovered the freestanding cupboard wasn't fully attached to the wall. Installed valve and hose for winter RV antifreeze. Next year DH will be able to do this. Discovered outside ref. vent/grate wasn't installed with caulk at the screws. New vent installed. Pointed out some places for us to caulk. Rob and Jim are very personable. One day for the small repairs. While the work was being done we drove back to a suburb of Cleveland OHIO to stay at my Brother's house. He had a work list for us and we did 11 fixits. My brother took the week off for vacation. Our pay was dinner out every night. Five star review*****. Would make the 10 hr. round trip again if needed. Worth what ever distance you have to travel . Very reasonable labor rate along with very good service.

Oh geesh. Some of us just want to have some idea of the cost before we commit to the work. Also trying to determine if the cost of improvements are worth the Hi-Lo.

Cost of repairs.
J&R is more than willing to give you a price on seal replacement. It goes by the foot and also if you have rotted wood at the rail between the layers. DH didn't have a fork lift in his tool box to properly seperate the halves. Their shop rate is considerably less than RV dealers. While the repairs were being done I was at my Brother's house in Cleveland doing repairs for him. I would not hesitate to have them do work on my HiLo again.

Yes I do know they are good and reasonable. I have been in contact with them by phone and e-mail and they are very, very nice. I would have to drive/tow from California to Ohio. Or have it transported. I imagine there is a whole list of things that need to be done to this 20 year-old rig. But I REALLY like my Hi-Lo. More and more each day. My plan is to take it to Arizona in February 2020 for a solar install. Ohio is so far away. Ideally it should go to Ohio first. I just hope it is still in business by the time I get this all figured out? I like having it in my driveway just to look at it.

Since recently purchasing the 2001 24' Hi-Lo I have only put four new tires on it plus a new spare in the back and installed a nice reversible, smokey-colored Maxx air fan in the bathroom area. Am working on outfitting it with a new platform. Pulled the sink out but couldnt really find a replacement so had it put back in. Cleaned/bleached the gray tank and cleaned the inside and it looks pretty good considering its age. Would like to have all the cushions redone in a light pink, outdoor material I have already purchased. Everything works. It came with pretty much all the options except the solar trickle charger. The outside sides of my Hi-Lo are smooth which I like. I dont think I have a rubber roof. Its looks like white fiberglass over aluminum? IDK for sure. The windows are charming but my emergency window seems stuck. My fire extinguisher seems small. I have a pull-down bunk which I like. Not sure what the heat strip is next to the air conditioner.

Having an older HiLo.
I had a 1990 25ft. Classic HiLo. We were into repairs as DH is handy. The biggest repair was taking out all the windows and resealing them. Sounds like you have a good idea what needs to be done. We just finished taking out all the windows on our 1996 26ft. HiLo. We also had the heat strip on our AC. This is to take the chill out in the AM if it is 40* or warmer. I didn't find this very effective. If I had to replace the AC I would not pay extra for this feature. A small electric works fine for spot heating in our BR. I also love the smooth sides. Much easier to wash. We always camp with electric and water hookups. Yes, California is far from J&R in OHIO. We love our second HiLo more than the first one. In the spring we need to renew all exterior caulking. DH wants to extend the battery cables. Possibly we need to renew all the weather strip on our outside storage doors. Next on the list is trouble shooting our non working Monitor panel. Lots of good info on Utube. Our HiLo is stored off site. We are able to drive by it daily and say Hello.
