Question Tires

I have a 2004 M31-C and I want to know is, what is the biggest tire anyone has put on their 31C...I know that the tire is a 205/75R 15...what I want to know is can a 225/75R 15 fit without rubbing each other or the wheel well?

I don't know what your reason is to go to the larger size tire but if you want more weight handling ability you can go from a Load Range C to a D and still have the same diameter tire. The required tire pressure will increase from 50psi to 65psi.

Savage, as I recall, a 225/75 R 15 tire is about 2" larger in diameter and has a width that is just under 1" wider than the tires you have on your trailer. I had my axle repositioned by lifting the frame 1 1/2" inches and the larger tires fit with that change. The wheel wells were wide enough for the increased tire width. If your tires are more than two inches apart, then your axle spacing should accommodate that larger size, but you MAY have to increase the spacing between the axles and the frame.

As Rich says, you can always find Load Range D tires in your current size and that will give you increased load capacity.

Rich and Jack, thanks for your answers...I think I'll stick with the Maxxis 205/75R 15's load range D for now and if I need more I'll have the axles moved a bit so the 225 will fit.

Question

I believe the wheels are only rated for 50 PSI on the Hi-Lo.

I may be wrong however. I believe mine are stamp 50 PSI which will only accept load range C.

ROUGH, I've been running load range D for a couple of years now with the original rims. I also had the same pressure question before I upgraded, but the pros at several tire places said that rims have an overkill and will hold a lot more than 50 psi. Load range D gives me a smoother ride, less wear and allows higher speeds. 65 psi meant I needed a better compressor which allowed me to check and inflate a lot faster. Just my 2 cents.
