March Tionesta lake trip

Oh my, so sorry to hear this Jim. Hope you get healed up real soon. I know you were looking forward to your April camping trip.

Deb

David,

I was hoping for 6 weeks too. Unfortunately the top of my tibia is split vertically for about 1 1/4 inch. The good news is there is no displacement... everything stayed together. The MD didn't cast it, or screw it together, but says keep the weight off for a full 12 weeks to keep the split from widening. Hence the crutches for what seems like forever. Hah, after tooling around on crutches for that long, I'll probably look the the dad from the Incredibles!

When you decide to travel this direction please let me know and I'll show you some of Idaho. But be warned... most folks who travel away from the I-84 corridor, and off the Snake River Plain and into the mountains, dream to return. Idaho is big river rapids and blue sky and natural lakes and tall pines and 85% mountainous and all those beauties tend to draw you in!

I admit, I'm a proud Idahoan!

Jim

DebW,

Thanks, I'm still planning the April trip. Not sure if two broken legs could keep me from going!

Nice one! That that takes me back, sounds like one of my injuries, a decade of motocross and gymnastics followed by another decade of sport biking and mountain biking torqued alot of my parts to the tune of 22 broken bones and over two hundred stitches. Aaaahhh the good ole days..... ya they're over!
I had a member from the Ruger forum welcome me to Montana too, it will have to be a tour!
I do love mountains, lakes and rivers, we have a nice little slice of heaven at Ohiopyle State Park here in southwestern, PA. Nice white water, flatwater, mountain biking. Ok, I'll do it if I must.....:D

David,
I agree! Although out here, a good deep snow pack it DEFINITELY a good thing! Keeps the water flowing out of our faucets, the crops watered, and helps beat down the bark beatles infesting our forests!

My daughter has decided to fly in and join me for the April camping trip. So she can help me shovel the darn snow if needed... HAH, if she remembers how, after living in coastal southern Calif. for so long!

Judging from the increase in activity on the HTF over the past several days, I'm figuring a lot of members are getting the itch to hitch and pitch!

Jim

I am looking out the window at about 2" of fresh snow. Where is that d@#%*ed groundhog?

Countdown to the start of our first camping trip of the year, rain, snow, or shine: Twenty-six days!

Less than a month away and still too long!

Broken leg

Jim sorry to hear about your accident, broken leg. One of our members of the HiLove NY HiLo club had a serious fall at home. A few days in ICU,then surgery to the right femur. No weight bearing for 12 weeks. She is now in rehab. They are scheduled to be at the ralye in June. We'll pray for both of you to make a full recovery with no complications. Sp.Rally Keep our salesman Chuck Carlson and his wife Betty in your prayers. Chuck is still working at 79Yrs.of age and is the care taker for his wife. She recently spent five days in the Hospital.

Sam,

Thanks, and I will keep your friends in our prayers.

I will say that there is no doubt in my mind that the BIG GUY was looking after me. The right side of my ski helmut was smashed and cracked all the way through, but I got off with a mild concussion (in addition to the leg break). It was only the 5th time I'd ever worn a helmut... my skiing buddy (the messenger, I'm sure) talked me into buying one! If it weren't for the helmut, I certainly wouldn't be typing this!

No......I have been swamped. I tend to volunteer for too much, I'm always eager to help out.
However I was looking for Memorial Day weekend, I don't care if anyone is going with me I'm going.
I have sound and worship meeting today which is what nixed this weenend, next weekend I have a CMA chapter meeting which I have to attend being the president, and then I'm home free for the 27th - 29th.
Ya Game?!

You had better leave the phone off the hook and go hide in the meantime. :D

It is definitely a useful word and one that I will have to consider a little more often. The last weekend of the month is a go no matter what, I haven't found the campground yet, but I will.
Rich are you going to be around that weekend? I was going to drop Thankful a line as well.

What way are you planing to go there, up SR66 then SR36? The Street into the Outflow camping area is S. Elm Street or Spillway Road, whichever way it is signed. It may be a little tricky turning into there coming from the south on 36, it would be best to go on into town and turn around somewhere and head back south to hit that street before the bridge over Tionesta Creek. Pull up a Google map and you will see it.

We will be camping on our land near Leeper, we always have a big family camp-in that weekend.
