Question Another newbie from Kansas

Hello,
I just bought my first Hi-Lo that is in exceptionally good condition for a 1979 model. Everything works as it should and it was a one person owner when I bought it.I'm going to take it on a long trip in Sept. about 3,000 miles and hope to learn a lot I didn't know from all of you before I leave. '

My first question is: My trailer came out of the factory without an awning. Has anyone ever added one after the fact. It would be nice to have one.

Glad to be here,

I'm taking one off my "new" 2000 2600TFB because my 1976 2176B didn't have one and always used a Truck Tarp [since 1995 after cheap tarps]. Have gotten too used to the extra "Pickin'/Living Space of an 18' x 24' Truck Tarp. You just have to remember to slide the Tarp in place BEFORE you Raise the top!

This year though, after too many storms last year, it needs some repairs, or a new Tarp. It was custom made on 1 24' side to slide in the "C" grove like an Awning does, with Grommets for 8 2x2 8' support Poles. Then I have 2 additional Poles (plus 18"+/- Logs taken down in Storms) in the middle of our recycled commercial carpeted area.

Besides, the PO had damaged the Rear Support Arm and Lower bracket so much, on the "new" one, that the Awning is a Pain to put out. Repairs & replacement of the Damaged Parts are available, but I'm Spoiled.

I have one in good shape on a 93 Ford Gulf stream MH. had anyone ever modified one to fit a Hi-Lo? It's in excellent condition.

Default Cheap easy alternative

Just came back from camping at a State campground. I saw some neat easy ups that looked like a tent. Seems like it would be bug and water proof.
