I just joined this group because I purchased a damaged HILO trailer I will attempt to restore (not to original standards), but well enough for comfortable use. It is a 1985 model about 20 ft. long. The roof had many pin holes and the upper side panels were all rotten. I look forward to exchanging ideas for remodeling with anyone who has experience with this.

Welcome to the forum.

Treeclimber mentioned that many of us have done roof replacement and extensive upper wall rebuilds. Many back posts about this. The rofs develop pinpoint due to disimilar metals and age. Besure to take out all your windows and reseal. You Tube has a video on how to do this.We are here to answer any questions you may have.
 
sam is right several members have done this repair and the basic steps are under the "search" heading at the top. I did help a Hi Lo owner change from an aluminum roof to a rubber roof. His metal was just too far gone. The pin holes you SEE are about one tenth of the damage. Galvanic corrosion has begun because of moisture between the roof and ceiling causing dissimilar metal corrosion. If repaired in time it can be arrested, but it will always be there.

roof replacement

3/4 of the way complete with replacing my metal roof with epdm rubber. Had to replace all the upper decking. the roof consists of a piece of styrofoam sandwiched between sheets of luan. I removed the old wood on the top because it was too far gone to roof over. There is no good/easy way to do this. I glued the wood back on and added another layer on top for extra strength.
If you're wood is fairly solid I would recommend not tearing into the roof but rather find a good coating to brush over it. In hindsight I would have considered gluing the edpm directly onto the metal roof.

Thanks for the good information. My roof is shot and I will put luan and epdm on after removing the original. I will update group when I am done.

Sounds like you are on the right track. Good luck with the rest of the project. I have some mold on my outside caulking to remove. Will try to stay in the shade.
