Smile New Member Intro

Well, I've been looking to "get off the ground" for a couple years now and finally found a camper that I think is going to be both a challenge and a lot of fun! It's a 1983 16S (funlite?) that is good structurally, but has some issues that I'll be asking for help on sooner or later The PO has all the manuals and paperwork for it and I can't wait to start going through them!
Issues that I know about: need to replace the black tank and toilet (tire blowout took out the bottom of the black tank). The potable water tank also looks like it's ready to be replaced as well ... the PO didn't use it and I discovered that the drain plug was missing. I will post more as things get discovered and will also post pics later!

I look forward to learning all I can from you more experienced members!

Hi and welcome! You may not have to replace the freshwater tank. You can replace the drain valve if that's all that's wrong with it. The OEM valve is a plastic one that I've found at ACE Hardware, but they don't last in the sun. I put a brass hose valve on my trailer for that reason. You can buy an adapter that fits into the back of the valve that will accept the drain tube from the tank at hardware stores too.

You should, of course, sanitize the fresh water supply with a mix of water and bleach. Rinse the tank and lines well afterwards to remove the chlorine taste.

You can probably find a replacement toilet and black tank online. Or, if you prefer, Camping World will have them or can order them for you.

- Jack
