Smile Recently acquired a '69 Ratcliff TowLow

My wife and I make a hobby of restoring and upgrading small vintage travel trailers and recently picked up a 1969 17ft 400 deluxe model Tow Low. Three of the four cables on the lifting system were broke and had to cut the fourth to get it down for transport home. Also the shaft was bent toward the rear. Have routed new cables, straightened the shaft and in the process of hooking them up below, time consuming job but very do-able. We are very impressed with this little trailer and plan on doing some upgrades and hanging on to this one and using it a lot this year, several trips planned.

Welcome!!! Pictures and pictures and more pictures. We like pictures. Check the search engine and chase down old posts- a number of folks here have totally restored their Hi-los including some very vintage projects. Also check the library for links to old brochures and manuals.

Have added an Atwood 6 gal water heater, outside recessed auxiliary shower, new faucet, 12 volt demand water system with new tank and all new pex hot and cold waterlines. Project is comming along nicely. I will be posting pictures of before and after as soon as I figure out how.

I have the same problem, so how did you straighten the bent shaft, and how do you think it got bent in the first place?
