awning repairs
We have had to reinforce our awning where it attaches to the side of the trailer. The bracket puts a lot of pressure on the relatively thin wall. A bad design. Here is an old post by Sam Shields on reattaching the awning bracket. 7-31-2010 Also awning fabric replacement by 455lark The thread starts on 5-30-2011 and has a few additional posters. Hope this helps.

Here are two photos of the bottom of the bracket showing the pad. I looks like a hard rubber or plastic pad.

Thanks! Helps a lot. Kinda looks like the pads where the top rests on the braces when lowered.

They seem to be made out of similar material, except for color. On my trailer the pads that the top rests on are black.
Incidentally, I'm glad that you started this thread. When I was taking the photos I noticed that the rear awning bracket on my trailer does not have a pad. The bracket sits right on the side of the trailer. I can't tell if it ever had one. I'm going to loosen the bracket a bit and put a pad under it before re-tightening the screws.

Make sure that you fill the lag bolt hole with a good sealant before reinstalling. Water has been getting into the walls by the threads on the lag bolts. It looks like the factory did not seal the lags. Remove one at a time and fill with the sealant.

Here is a pic of the stainless steel pads that I put on the 2209. It looks black but it is stainless.

Rich, how thick is that, more or less?

It's 1/8 thick and held in place with silicone and it spreads the load over a bigger area. In my opinion the original rubber pads were to thick and tilted the bracket upward to much, preventing the arm from resting on the little rubber stops on the bracket.

If memory serves me, the rubber pad on my TT is about 1/2 inch thick.
