We saved this literal New Old Stock RV that in late 1972 originally was on it's way to Palisade California for a RV Expo Show. The Whole RV was full of panel/foam/skin samples 4" x 4" in size ( to show the bonded skin and build ) to hand out at the event for the 1973 campaign of Winnebago on the Move and brochures were also packed into 9 boxes showing a tow behind camper they did build many of, and a in bed truck camper they made over 600 of using KIT Manufacturing to build most on contract then, and a similar looking 25.5 foot 5th wheel same looking as mine but that one was 2 foot shorter then mine. Mine has obvious hand cut metal beams and very obvious one off parts. The water heater door was missing so a used one was found (white) to close up the hole, everything else is as it was made.
Zero rot exist on it, it has never been in rain or weather in 50+ years.
The hauling truck a 1972 Dodge with Dodge made 10 foot bed it broke down (shattered clutch plate) near Twin Falls Idaho, the RV was stored then abandoned at Reese RV and after 4 years they were told to destroy it on order of a Winnebago manager John Hanson, then from in their service building in 1977 it was transferred to the rv store owners barn where it sat till 2017 when we bought it in a estate auction for $500. Never had gas or water in the pipes, refrigerator had never been connected so we removed it, left it on its top for a week and it actually started working, and only damage it got was a few bumps due to farm activities in the 40 x 100 barn it sat in and some pigeon abuse. This RV has a one off 5th wheel frame rack and mount for in bed truck hitch hand made by Winnebago, nothing else fits into it due to a very short 2" main pin and collar on the RV on it which is 1/2 shorter than any industry normal.
Now it is in Texas in a sealed building and awaiting time and funds to awake its 52 year sleep. Tracking found that Winnebago only made a few from 1973 to 1975 and only ours has a current registration in all of north American search and another was registered but inactive from 1984. Winnebago sent 2 guys in 2018 who declared it was theirs, took lots of photos, measurements, said it was likely a prototype for a plan to build on request/special order and none were mass produced, but no records exist on it being built. Winnebago was going through ownership and location changes at the time we asked for their input, so far Winnebago says they did not build any 5th wheels till 1999.
I own the last Ghost they claim does not exist!
