In HS, and during college, was bicycle tech. After college became designer, special needs mobility devices, CAD operator (see below)
While trying to be a forester, I was a contractor, finish carpenter, certified kitchen designer and cabinetmaker. Can build a complete home by myself, with full electrical and plumbing- incl. landscaping and tree maintenance. Many years as being a forester is not a lucrative career.
I grew up learning how to build our home in VT with my dad and older brother. During HS, I built many Radio Shack Science Fair kits- radios, wireless microphones, etc and learned to solder and assemble electronics. So wiring was easy for me.
Wood technologist (qualified from UVM Forestry classes) for Vacu-therm in Warren, VT, 2 yrs.
With the dry-kiln in an airport hangar, I also repaired two Pitts S2 stunt plane top wings after pilot (my boss) crashed them. I built many balsa airplane models as a kid too. Pitts was a very large model airplane to me.
After that, I worked for local lumber company for 2 years as book-keeper/clerk/sales.
During that time, I became fully licensed series 6 & 67 securities and insurance for 3 yrs.
Then full circle back to bicycle shop that paid for my college, as assembly manager/ repair tech. Left in 1994 to design and build the Chicago Bicycle comfort cruiser, then mobility cycles for Step-n-go cycles, as well as worldmobility.org for more than 10 yrs.
Finally, after son decided to play trumpet in 1999 I got into brass and woodwind repair.
Last job I became self-employed again, repairing band wind instruments from 2000-2023 under name First Chair Brass & Woodwind. Retired in 2023. Some still call for repairs to this day.
Why so many jobs? I am bipolar and autistic. I was hard to deal with. I tend to focus too much. Now 70 have finally learned to tame those issues.
