Window Leak caused a rotted upper section beam

Welcome to the forum. I think the hi-lo regardless of model is a great idea, and a shame they are not in business right now. Like everyone has said, look at the lift system and make sure the top half mates evenly with the bottom all the way around. I have found the beams get wet from water...

discussion about the hilo support beams.

I never thought about the Knees but on each side of a cut in a beam would be a good idea. I would think the most beam damage, other than water, would be the 4.5 constant earthquake while moving down the road. Supports on either side of doors and tipouts would be a good idea.:) Charlie

Painting the outside of a camper?

Hi Maggie Keep in mind, it is your trailer and you can do with it any thing that is legal:D. If you are able to spray paint it puts you a couple steps ahead, and there are special primers for aluminum to use before painting. If you have one with fiberglass sides, wipe the trailer down...

    New to us 2506Classic

Welcome to the fun list. Sounds like you got the leaks fixed before beam damage. Wonderful. We bought a 245TD 2 years ago and I wasn't as lucky, but It will be rebuilt in the spring. I also bought another HILO this fall that has water damage and it too will be fixed in the spring and probably...

1984 Funlite - Welcoming myself aboard

Hello Mike, and welcome aboard. My name is Charlie and we are about as far south on the eastern Ohio border as you can get. It looks like you found a real gem. Only thing I can say is make sure it is winterized and look at the seams for cracks in the caulking. You are lucky enough to have a...

    bag awning comparisons

Those awnings are pretty hard to slide out of the groove. It would get tiring fast. if you could put something on the top portion of the windows, even duct tape to help keep the water out it would be a help. I wouldn't put anything on the bottom of them, but make sure the camper is down for...

    bag awning comparisons

Sax Player, Welcome aboard. I removed my awning for 2 reasons, one, it caused a major water leak that has led to a major rebuild, and two, I can't see dragging around an extra hundred pounds of weight and wind drag. Our travel plans really don't see much of a benefit to an awning. As for the...

    Siding separation

Water is the number one enemy. Once inside it requires extensive repairs to correct the problems and it looks to me like removing the sides is the only way to do it right. You must be vigilant in keeping the windows and seams all sealed with the proper calking and ribbon caulk. removing a...

Major repairs to walls, windows & Beam 24' - 2002

I just bought a 2005 that has the same damage, though it doesn't look near as bad, it will require the same repair. I resealed the windows, and the roof moldings and took the moldings off the bottom of the top half to let the sides dry out. It will have to sit over the winter because I have to...

Ford 6.0 and 7.3 powerstroke diesels

working on the van I did some TLC on the van this week. The trim panels were loose in the rear and only one door would unlock with a key. I removed the trim panels and repaired the clips that were not on properly, possibly from the last repairs in the area. I had to add a couple screws...

Ford 6.0 and 7.3 powerstroke diesels

We took a 600 mile trip over the week end, with out towing, and averaged a little over 20 MPG. My son has some tweaks he wants to do and thinks 25 is possible. The van ran like a clock. I am really impressed.

    New owner/member & questions about 1994 FunLite

I read somewhere on this forum where someone was able to use a 90 degree screwdriver to remove the guide block from the beam , place it over the guide rail and reattach it to the beam. they said it took some time but faster than lifting the top. Harbor freight makes a small ratching screwdriver...

Ford 6.0 and 7.3 powerstroke diesels

I found a 2004 E350 van loaded with a 6.0 diesel. First tank around the area I did 17.07 MPG and my son has got it now to do the fine tuning. He is a master Ford tech and a darned good one. He drove it before I bought it. I laid out 6500 bucks for a unit that has 168K miles but it rns...

discussion about the hilo support beams.

Hello group. I am now the proud owner of 2 hilos, a 1994 and a 2005. both have water damage, the 94 due to my stupidity, and the 2005 is very minor due to window leaks (which have been repaired with all new butyl seals. As I have the 94 torn completely apart I noticed the beams sag...

Ford 6.0 and 7.3 powerstroke diesels

that sure does help. I get 8.7 with the Ford V6 towing the same weight range. Tank to tank average without towing is 15.5. I have a light foot and always get good mileage no mater what I drive. This F150 has to go. :(

Ford 6.0 and 7.3 powerstroke diesels

either one beats a ford V6 F150 at 9 mpg. The best I get on it avg, tank to tank is 15.5 not pulling anything but its self.

Ford 6.0 and 7.3 powerstroke diesels

Hi group, Anyone using a Ford 6.0 or 7.3 PS diesel for a tow vehicle? If so what kind of mileage are you getting. I am reading some claims on the Ford Truck forums that are kind of hard to believe, although I really want to believe them. :) Charlie

What did you do to your HiLo Today?

I cleaned the awning on the 2705 and resealed under the molding that holds it. Pulled the right rear window and sealed it too. We spent the last 3 days cleaning and now I am trying to find all of the areas that can leak. There is minor water damage, but I think I may have got lucky and caught it...

    2010 hilo 2510

If any one has a hilo or parts for sale, I don't care if they are dealers or not just so the post is personal, not some copy and paste junk. The post from Dillion's was not offensive to me. I would even like Dealers that have a sale on Hilo parts list them here too. When you are trying to...
