    Actually this is a very peaceful picture that doesn't capture the true chaos that is Ft. Stevens. I was almost run over by a kid on a bike just after taking this photo....

    Ft. Stevens was a HUGE military base from the Civil War until after WWII. This is a cannon battery from WWII. The huge guns were on turrets that could be lowered and made invisible from the ocean.

    The baby was sleeping - so we had to park and have lunch in the camper... There are a few places at Ft. Stevens that allow you to drive right out on the sand. A rarity in Oregon.
