Hi Lo Repair Shop Boise Idaho

Sher, The only RV mechanic, in the Treasure Valley, that I absolutely trust with my Hi-Lo, is Rich at Bretz RV. Bretz is located on the SE corner at the intersection of Broadway and I-84, in Boise. Rich has a great local reputation for quality work. Talk to Andy, the Service Manager...

desperately looking for 2806c owners manual

Actually, Hi-Lo trailers, particularly later models, really didn't change very much, and the manuals have always been somewhat generic. Our 2704T is virtually identical to a new 2709T we inspected at a dealership. If you look under Hi-Lo manuals in this HTF, you'll find a 2008 Hi-Lo Operators...

1984 Funlite - Welcoming myself aboard

Hi Mike, Welcome to the HTF, and to the world of Hi-Lo camping! Regarding things to check/inspect, please don't neglect the one thing that makes your Hi-Lo unique from all other brands of trailers: The lift system. Especially with a rig 30 years old, get underneath and inspect the ram for...

    Hi-Lo Rally 2015

Hi Rich, The Registration Form file opens perfectly. Nice work, and just what was needed! Thanks, Jim

    Hi-Lo Rally 2015

Rich, Sounds like a plan. There's plenty of time before the Rally...I'm just in my January Hi-Lo trip planning mode. LOL, it's my coping mechanism for dealing with camping withdrawal, and being stuck indoors during the deep dark winter. I know it's bad when I'm shoveling snow and wishing I...

Hi Rich, Did that first. No reply. Just trying another option. Thanks, Jim

    Hi-Lo Rally 2015

2015 National Rally Registration Form Hi Kathy, Any chance you could post the subject form, as an attachment, here on HTF? That way we could grab the form at will and just send it back to you after we've completed filling it out. Looking forward to WI! Jim

    Time for a Cover

This is exactly what we did! After our experience with the paper-like covers commonly made/sold for travel trailers, we decided to spend a bit more and have one made that would: 1. Fit the trailer, and 2. Last for many years. We went to a local "canvas," shop and had them make the cover out of...

Off topic Hi Jim, Are you and Faye spending the winter in Florida? Hope the New Year finds you both happy and healthy! Jim and Jeanne

What are some of the oldest Hi Lo's on this site?

"Wow Jim, that is heavy for a trailer that size. Just purchased a 64 model, same length, will get it weighed next spring but wonder if they were already using square steel tubing by then? Would you know what kind of flooring they used in 64? plywood, plank? what was the tongue weight on yours?"...

What are some of the oldest Hi Lo's on this site?

Our 1969 Bon Voyage was the top of the HiLo line when made. Ball to bumper length is 19 ft. Actual box length is approx. 15 ft. Yes, it is heavy for its length when compared to other trailers of the era. I don't remember the empty weight, but fully loaded it tipped the scales at about 5000 lbs...

    Marker Lights

Take a finger nail file and clean all the copper conductor blades in your trailer plug and the car's receiver socket. Pay particular attention to the ground wire conductors. Of course the safe thing to do is disconnect the batteries first! If that doesn't fix it, check for loose connections...

What did you do to your HiLo Today?

I tend to agree with Jack. Wood in compression is still vulnerable with these kinds of forces. Wood is plastic when compressed, but it's not elastic. It never returns to its original shape (thickness). Speaking as a retired machinist, I suggest you stop by your local steel/metal retailer and...

    longest

Greg, the 2015 Tahoe is working out very well with our 2704T. Before reading further, be aware that except for the occasional short passing speed burst, we NEVER tow at speeds over 65mph. The limiting factor being the trailer tires. So our decision to buy a new TV had nothing to do with any...

Becoming a "Senior Member" has nothing to do with how long one has been in the HTF. It's all about how many posts one has made. Could be wrong because it's been a while, but I believe once you pass 100 posts, you are automatically listed as a Senior Member. Jim

What did you do to your HiLo Today?

Prepped it for one last camping trip before putting it in dry lay-up for winter. Leaving tomorrow and traveling to beautiful McCall, Idaho, and Payette Lake. ;) Just wish our Hi-Lo was built to tolerate winter camping in Idaho... It always seems like such a long wait until Spring, when we...

Weight of the trailer. Hi-Lo probably should have also put three axles under the 31 footer. Jim

    longest

The longest production HiLo I've ever heard was 33' long. It was built with 3 axles. Have no idea what it weighed. Not many were made. Somewhere in the HTF, there are photos of one. Jim

What is the best thing you bought for your HiLo

I'd never even heard of an electronic digital angle gauge, when I saw them on a sale bench at Woodcrafters. After reading the packaging and finding out what it could do (it's designed for setting table saw blade angles), I realized this little thing would/could be terrific for leveling the HiLo...

What thing did you purchase for HiLo that didn't work for you.

Sam, Great original question!:) We bought this clothes drying rack that clamped on the rear bumper of the trailer. Took ten minutes to put up, and then tended to fold up whenever we hung a towel. Used the thing once, carried it for a year, got tired of it always being in the way, and finally...

Along this same theme, check / clean the electrical connections on the hydraulic pump motor. Minor corrosion can definitely keep the motor from working...speaking from experience! Please let us know how this turns out. Jim

    Electrical Wiring Question

Gomisery, My 1969 Hi-Lo upper half DC system was grounded to the lower half through the lift cables. The original lift cables were galvanized steel, and over time a zinc oxide layer formed, on the surface of the cables, effectively forming electrical insulation. It was pretty frustrating trying...

A few pictures from the Rally

Hi Ruben, Unfortunately, no. We didn't have a category for "most extreme" Hi-Lo. Honestly though, we had no idea that Bill and Freenie were going to show up and treat us all to a look at their rig. They arrived the last night and departed the next morning. Just long enough for us all to have a...

A few pictures from the Rally

Hi Tom, The morning after the award ceremony, I was informed that there was an even older trailer at the Rally...a 1991 model. The owner had not filled in the year of manufacture on the Rally registration form. Not a problem, I'll engrave a second "oldest plaque," and send it to them. We also...

    Waste water tank?

DFW, Built-in toilets were an optional item on those older models. Our 1969 had a factory installed toilet and it shared a holding tank with the sink drain (trailers were simpler back then). Due to an irreparable tank leak, I eventually removed the built-in toilet, rebuilt the floor in the...
