I would try Goo Gone Spray Gel, it removes all types of dried on stuff.

if able try to go and have it checked out at a tire store or a similair place for there determination, when it comes to tires, a easy blow out can occur from improperly or over inflating, and towing a unit with a heavy hitch is not safe.

Hey Sting, here's a McGyver Idea. go ahead and take out the vent and check and see if you can hold your own weight on the roof support by placeing a 2x4 crossways on the roof, and after doing that and all goes well, install the air unit and instead of running all the wiring just install a power...

I defeniately would go with a new gasket for the air conditioner. the old ones dry out and crack causing dust and leaking problems:)
