Anyone live near Akron Ohio want to make a little spare cash?

Just testing the waters here... the used travel trailer market in Colorado stinks on ice. Everything is way expensive. All of the "deals" appear to be in Ohio. I'm talking $3-4k savings on equal units. Maybe because of proximity to manufacturing? Anyway - I'm starting to eyeball a few units...

So what I did probably produced a low number?

Just got back from the scales - did I do it right?

Just brought our 1986 Funsaver 21' back from the scales... I drove over the scale, got the truck off the scale and weighed in at 3940 lbs. Question - since I had my weight distribution hitch on, and the trailer hooked up - was some of the weight actually transferred to the car / not accounted...

I found a use for the emergency hatch...

This is a bit embarrassing and a bit funny... tonight I had to crawl into our HiLo to take some measurements. Battery is out and I didn't want to raise it - so I crawled in with a flashlight as I often do. Well... this time the door shut behind me and I realized as I went to leave that if the...

    Looking for 18-22' Hi-Lo, ~$4k

Thanks, but no - we did find (a 21' funsaver) and we enjoy camping so much we now are looking for a newer, bigger trailer (ahh it has started).

Seeking Furnace parts or used furnace

I have a Suburban NT-16S that is shot. Needs a blower motor and gas valve. These are about $300. Anyone know where I can pick up a refurb or some other means of replacing these parts? A new furnace is about $550-$600 and I'm having trouble locating something used or refurbished. Thanks

    Heater gas leak

Just found out the heater (suburban NT-16s) is leaking gas. This is causing a gas buildup and a significant "whoomp" once it re-starts. If it has been off for a while you can smell gas buildup in the camper. I finally traced it to the furnace - and gas was free-flowing from the furnace when it...

    Prevent water from freezing?

Lol. So what you're really saying is that moonshine would be more efficient!! :) Hey that's good to know. I would probably be targeting about 15-20 degrees at the lowest, and honestly it would only be for nighttime hours and the camper would be radiating a little heat during those hours. During...

FunSaver 19' tongue weight 600 lbs!!!

The WDH really made a huge difference. Next target is the propane tanks but I think that'll be about it - still very heavy on the tongue but from what I've been reading it doesn't seem unusual.

    Ceiling rotted, now what?!

That's good to know - seems that my cupboards were either remounted or screwed into wood, I can't hit metal no matter how much I push up on it. Anyone have suggestions for how to find the metal rib?

    Ceiling rotted, now what?!

Ok - in the interest of finances; we are keeping this guy for another year or so. Other than the fact that I "know" the rot is there; it is fine. That's aside from the cabinet over the sink which is starting to pull away. I think I can secure the cabinet by drilling right up through the roof...

HELP!!! my 1984 doesnt have an awning!!!

FWIW I'm in the Denver area too and if you're camping in Colorado consider the wind! Our '86 came with an awning and broke already (plastic was weak I'm sure) just as I was going out to retract it as the wind picked up. Honestly; haven't used it since.

    Prevent water from freezing?

Wow, thanks for your input everyone. I went to Camping World and asked them too - bottom line is that there is no water additive for cold weather camping. I'm not worried about the black and gray tanks, could use antifreeze there. Even if I could insulate the main tank the bigger problem is the...

    Ceiling rotted, now what?!

Thanks for the insights guys. The pictures of the rebuild are exactly what I was looking for. Gives me a sense of what we're up against. I was talking to the war department (wife) last night - we're going to try and nurse another season out of it. It'll be tight but that way we'll get a little...

    Ceiling rotted, now what?!

Thank you for posting the pictures - those are actually really helpful. I was trying to get a sense of the sub-structure. Did you have to replace the flashing where the top and bottom parts meet? Also - I can't quite tell from the pictures but what do the cabinets mount to? What I might do is...

    Ceiling rotted, now what?!

This spring we bought a 1986 21' Funsaver. It has taught me some very valuable lessons about buying a trailer - mainly how to assess the roof / walls for rot. Needless to say - I made a poor assumption about the roof of the trailer and later found lots of little holes in it. Most of which I have...

    Prevent water from freezing?

Hi, I'd like to use our camper during hunting season - it's going to be below freezing at night. Are there any additives to preventing the water from freezing so we can use it for dishes, toilet, sink? Not for drinking - but I would have to flush the tank and be able to use it for drinking the...

    1988 Funmaker for FREE!!!

Hi Mike - you didn't happen to take pictures of the dis-assembly? I'm trying to learn the substructure (walls and ceiling) since I have rotted cabinet mounts and am worried that I'm going to need to rebuild behind the walls. Thanks!

    rebuild

Did anyone get into this? I might need to pull the walls off our '86 and I'm afraid bring down the ceiling too. Was looking for pictures / construction details of the ceiling.

Trailer not charging / 7 pin harness - very strange

Got it! I did a full writeup over on the Ford-Truck forum since it was more related to the wiring of the Ford. Thanks all for your help!

Trailer not charging / 7 pin harness - very strange

Thanks PopRichie77, I'm going to run one last test today and then call it and run the wire as you suggest. What I find funny is that the +12V wire heading into the trailer adapter is tiny. #14 or #16 maybe? The ground looks like it might be #12 or #10. Problem with my new plan is that I'll end...

Trailer not charging / 7 pin harness - very strange

In case you really want to geek out and see where the diagnosis is going I have a more thorough thread running on the Ford Truck forum where I found a lot of useful information on wiring, etc. I will probably do a bypass of the circuit. Turn signal, trailer wiring problem - Ford Truck...

Trailer not charging / 7 pin harness - very strange

That's the best diagram I've seen yet. It is consistent with my setup. I diagnosed that for an hour earlier.
