New to this forum....1965 HiLo owner

Would love to see more pics of your 65 Hi lo, particularly the exterior. What size is it? I noticed the cranking mechanism on the back of the trailer looks very similar to the one we have on our 64 homemade Hi Lo. Is it a ratcheting type? Our is not and our handle isn't removable as I have seen...

    vintage Hi Los

I am curious about the cable location because my 64 homemade Hi Lo has the cables and the guide rails on the streetside and curbside, with my door curbside. I have noticed vintage Hi Lo trailers with the cables on the front and back instead and wondered if the size of the trailer dictated the...

    vintage Hi Los

From pics I have seen the early Hi Lo trailers had lift 2 lift cables in the front of the trailer and 2 in the back. When the door moved from the curbside to the back did the placement of the lift cables remain the same, or did they move to 2 on the streetside and 2 on the curbside?

    vintage Hi Los

I have read that sometime in the 60s Hi Lo manufactured their trailers with the door on the back rather than on the curbside. Does anyone know what year this was and was that design feature on all their models at that time?

    1964 Hi-Lo photos

1964 Hi Lo I was glad to see your 64 Hi Lo pics. Love the vintage trailers! Have you seen my previous posts and pics about our 64 homemade trailer that looks similar to yours? We have replaced tires and leaf springs and are currently on the process of replacing the roof gasket (the seal between...

    1960s hi lo roof gasket

64roadie roof gasket The gaskets that are left on ours is very brittle and worn, but appears to be a flat type black gasket applied with adhesive. The gasket was applied on both the top section as well as the bottom section. I have ordered the bulb seal that seems to be for other hi-los and...

    1960s hi lo roof gasket

64roadie I have previously posted pics. If you go to the search tab on this forum and type "64roadie" you will see my other posts and pics. Does the gasket go on both halves or just the top?

    1960s hi lo roof gasket

We have a 1964 homemade hi lo type trailer and we are in the process of replacing the cables and the roof gasket. We have the top and bottom sections apart and blocked up but we found that we had gaskets on both the top half and the bottom half. Is that typical of the 60s hi los, or did the...

1964 homemade hi-lo doors Here are the pics of the door on our 64 "hi-lo". The top portion of the door opens outward and the bottom section of the door swings inward. The other photo shows the seal between the doors--I think it is a weatherizing door sweep (the part that goes on the bottom of a...

homemade 1964 hi-lo My homemade hi-lo door does have the top portion swing out and the bottom portion swing in. Not the most convenient, but not really a problem either. I will take some detailed pics of the door this weekend and post them for you. We have only had this one for a few weeks, but...

1964 homemade hi-lo The Airstream is a great trailer and holds its value well. I have invested quite a bit of $$$ in it on top of the initial cost to purchase and lots of hours of work. that goes with a territory with vintage. Polishing and possibly axle replacement are on the agenda for next...

    vintage homenade "hi-lo"

homemade hi-lo and 64 Airstream I have had the 1964 Airstream for just a year now and it definitely was cared for before I got it and lots of it was original. I am the 7th owner and I am so glad all the other owners took good care of it. That said, we have put many hours of work in it. New...

vintage homemade sorta hi-lo Could be! I have no idea and am glad of it--the less I know about that, the better. I believe I am the 4th owner. It is in such good shape and the hi-los are a really cool trailer. I would like to keep this vintage camper on the road. Can anyone out there help me...

    vintage homenade "hi-lo"

I just bought a homemade 1964 travel trailer that is very similar to a hi-lo. PO thinks it was made by a man who used to work for hi-lo and though I am new to hi-los, it looks much like the 60s hi-los I have found photos of online. Since it is homemade our "owner's manual" consists of a 1...
