    1979 HiLo Won't Lift

This time it only happened once so I can't say it's in the same spot of different. We have been unable to get it to lift since last week. My husband is thinking the motor itself has gone bad. Any idea how hard or easy those are to find?

    1979 HiLo Won't Lift

So.... Alien life form? If I find that, I will DEFINITELY let you know! Are these brushes difficult to get to? I don't think we've ever actually opened the motor.

    1979 HiLo Won't Lift

We have a pretty well-maintained 1979 Hi-Lo camper. We use it several times a year. We were going to take it out this weekend, but it won't lift. We've had an issue before with grounding, which we've since fixed. Here's what we've done: Camper is level Camper lifted half way, then stopped...

New to Forum, Old Camper Questions

Thanks for all the ideas guys! motorpig2342, that's exactly what I was thinking. Since I don't want to do the WHOLE camper just yet, just that one wall by the front window, I think just adhering an MDF panel to what's there would do the trick. Even the expensive one since it's just one half...

New to Forum, Old Camper Questions

Hi y'all. I'm Tina and my husband Chris and I have owned a 1979 HiLo since the 80's. A little about us: We were married at 18. Had 2 kids of our own, adopted 3 of my sister's kids to keep them out of foster care. We are now going on 30 years of marriage and ALL the kids are grown and out of...

    Attach Table Outside

We LOVE our 1977 Hi-Lo, and work on it all the time when not camping. We thought it would be a cool idea to attach brackets to the side of the camper and somehow fasten a homemade table to it. However I'm hesitant as the top shell has to slide down over whatever brackets we attach, but I do...

    79 HiLo Not Fully Lifting

It did used to lift all the way. We noticed a couple things when we realized it wasn't going 'up' fully: the door where the rubber from the top meets the bottom has a 'rub' mark and it's a good 2" lower now. My husband seems to hit his head on the bunk bed more now - again probably because the...

    79 HiLo Not Fully Lifting

Hi Steve, I just checked the camper. Bottom lower to the bottom of the lid, when lifted, is 2" lower in the back. However, I should note that the front is still not 'up' all the way - the seals are not lined up. Hope that helps!

    79 HiLo Not Fully Lifting

Lifting problem Sorry for the short message. We were driving down the road and I was frustrated with my phone. Personally I think the problem started when one of the cables broke. Rather than replacing them, my husband (Extremely handy) fixed the one cable that broke. To my knowledge, it...

    79 HiLo Not Fully Lifting

We have a 1979 and the top no longer fully raises. The seals are about 1-2 inches apart. We have attempted to tighten the nuts, but one appears to be fully extended. Any ideas what else we can try?

    Keep 12 volt battery charged?

Fireball: I didn't know it had an internal battery charger. I'm pretty sure it doesn't actually. We've been using the camper for over 20 years and have fixed so many things. This one thing is a recurring problem however. I was just surprised we purchased a new battery the day before our trip...

    Keep 12 volt battery charged?

We have had a 1979 Hi-Lo for many years and LOVE it. The only consistent problem we have is keeping the battery charged. We just came from a 5 day camping trip with a brand new battery. Trying to lower it we realized our battery was again dead. Anyone come up with creative ways to keep it...
