replacing converter in 2006 28 towlite

We bought the Boodocker 45 from Best converters and here is our story. After many discussions with guy at best we purchased unit. He said it was the best replacement for the Elixer as it would fit space. We very carefully pulled the Elixer out as far as we could, not very far but far enough...

    lower awning reinforcement

We have a 27 ft hilo made in 2006 and one of the lower awning bracket attachment screws is loose and cannot be tightened. I was thinking of drilling through to upper wood plate from the bottom and replacing screws with bolts and a steel plate to reinforce the bracket. Is this feasble, and is...

    Black Switch Mystery

I agree that it's the fridge cooling fan, but when our switch is on, the fan always is on. It doesn't cycle on and off. Is it supposed to?

    Replace bottom door weather strip

Returned the one to Home Depot. Found a Frost King model at True Value. Seemed more like the old one than the M-D brand everyone else seems to carry. Of course we did have to trim the length and drill holes.

JackandJanet, thanks for the additional information. Now we'll know more about it when we call around.

A/C not cooling enough for comfort

Got up on the roof yesterday, removed the shroud, and blew out everything. No improvement in the temp of the air coming out of the A/C. I do have a question. My husband called around a little to see what it would cost to have it serviced and what they did. They made it sound like they did pretty...

A/C not cooling enough for comfort

KnottyRig, I'm not using an extension cord, at least by my definition. The trailer is plugged into our home 20 amp outlet using the long heavy power supply cord that comes with the trailer. It's attached in a compartment on the outside of the trailer. The A/C has it's own cord that I pull out of...

Thanks Bob. I was kind of wondering about that. Never been on the roof before.

A/C not cooling enough for comfort

Thanks, KnottyRig for all the info. Blowing off the outside is next on my list. The 81 inside the trailer is just the air temp early in the morning, no air on. We only ran the A/C for around 10 or 15 minutes for the initial test. The cord and plug we plug in for the A/C, in the front of our...

A/C not cooling enough for comfort

I cleaned them dry with a very soft tooth brush, then rinsed them. They are drying as I send this note. Shouldn't take long, it's very warm in the garage.

A/C not cooling enough for comfort

Finally Plugged the A/C in today. Finally got to the A/C today. Plugged the trailer cord into a 20 amp outlet in the garage. I know everyone says it needs to be 30 amp, but the fuse in the trailer is 20 amp and we had nothing else operating. Ran the A/C for about 15 minutes. The temp in the...

A/C not cooling enough for comfort

Thank you all for the tips. We should be able to check out the temp on the A/C tomorrow morning. I'm glad to know the roof will support a person walking around on it. I think both of our blowers are too strong, but I do have a small canister vac that works on DC that I've been meaning to locate...

A/C not cooling enough for comfort

Thank you. We have the Duo-Therm Penguin 600 series that is original with the trailer. I think I'll take a look at the filters etc. Tomorrow. Not too sure about getting on the roof. Does DH go right on the roof, or put something on the surface first?

A/C not cooling enough for comfort

Thanks. I guess we'll plug it in and see what the temp is. Too bad we didn't have our gauge with us on the trip.

A/C not cooling enough for comfort

We just returned from New Mexico where we needed the A/C most of the time. It was around 95 to 100 degrees outside during the day. (Although it would cool down at night we kept the fan running all night because of the little Chihuahua next door that barked about every 15 minutes! That didn't...

    Replace bottom door weather strip

The weather strip on the bottom of the door has a tear in it and I would like to replace it. It looks like I should be able to just unscrew the aluminum strip holding the vinyl and put on a new one, but I'm having a little difficulty finding one just like it. I think I found one here...

    Overcharging/boiling batteries

One more thought..... We came up with maybe a common thread for both incidents. Both times that the batteries overcharged and either exploded or leaked, the batteries were older. This last set was 3 1/2 years old. The warranty was only 30 months. We're in Arizona and batteries don't last very...

    Overcharging/boiling batteries

Yes, the batteries were deep cycle. We purchased two new Interstate batteries from Costco today and installed them. The mobile RV person we have used on other issues came over and checked out the batteries and charger. He says that everything is working fine right now with shore power plugged...
