It would depend on why it wouldn't go down. THey are hinged at one end and the other end you move the back window out of the way and it should just drop into place. I think if you were to drive down the road with the back up you'd eventually rip out the hooks that hold the rear window in place...

Only around 20 of them made and as far as I know all of them in 2009. Unfortunately no manuals for anything.

Other addition made - Also cut a piece of plywood to make a narrower bed when I am camping by myself so that I can leave the bed up (leave the table home, use a small folding one) the entire time and then have a small amount of the bench still available to sit on and got outdoor chair cushions...
