Need your advice on Hi Lo Campers 2010

I'm glad to hear of your success towing the Hi-Lo with a Cherokee. The lower height of the trailer must have made the difference. My brother was originally looking for a Hi-Lo to tow with his Cherokee, but bought the Hobbi because he decided to haul a motorcycle when he travels...

Need your advice on Hi Lo Campers 2010

My brother recently bought a camper as well... a 26 ft. Hobbi toy hauler. He towed it to Maryland from Wyoming last month with his Jeep Grand Cherokee (Hemi V8 motor). He said the Jeep had plenty of power, but was physically just too small and light . Every time he passed a large truck he...

Need your advice on Hi Lo Campers 2010

Hi Christiyen - My wife and I are new to camping also. We bought a 22ft. 1990 Hi-Lo last year and have taken three trips in it so far. We really like the camper. It tows easy, but then we are pulling it with a Chevy Silverado 1/2 ton pickup truck with factory towing package. Hi-Lo campers...

    Replacing water lines.

Thanks for the input. The reason I got into this situation is that I am replacing the evaporator fridge that came in my camper with one of those small dorm style units. It fits under the counter but was sitting on top of the plumbing and wiring, which I decided to relocate. Space is tight and...

    Replacing water lines.

I need to reroute the water supply lines to the kitchen and bathroom. The lines now are made with a gray somewhat flexible plastic and are marked ASTM D 3309 SDR 11. I found CPVC pipe with the same designation, but it is larger in diameter and not the same material. Does anyone know where I...

Getting black marks off 1990 Classic Fiberglass

I haven't tried to strip it yet, but I don't anticipate a problem. I have used Zep products in the past (basement tile floor) and they have always worked well, so I think the Zep stripper will do the job when the time comes. I hope that stripping will not be necessary though, since no one will...

Getting black marks off 1990 Classic Fiberglass

We have a 1990 also. We used BKF and a ScotchBrite pad to remove the black marks, but followed up with ZEP floor maintenance products.... wax stripper, followed by a coat of sealer, then two coats of floor polish. Once we were finished with the BKF the rest was fast and easy and the results...

    Time for Caulking

I am new to this owners group and am unsure how to navigate around it. I entered "Sam Shields" in the search engine, then tried "awning bracket", but could not find the post you mentioned. Could you maybe email me a link to that post? Rlhumphreys@aol.com Thanks.

    Time for Caulking

Thanks Sam. Looks like my repair is holding for now, but it is not a permanent solution. The information you mentioned will prove helpful I am sure. - Rick

    Time for Caulking

Sam - Last week I remounted the bottom brackets for the awning and ran into some rotten wood in the walls. Using longer screws I was able to firm up the brackets, but I suppose I will eventually have to do some wall rebuilding. When I get to that I'm sure you will be hearing from me!... thanks...

    Time for Caulking

We picked up the Lexel caulk, as Jack suggested and resealed all of the vertical joints. Also sealed the roof with the Dicor roof sealer. I applied the sealer with a paintbrush.... two coats and had a little left over. Rain this week has kept us from finishing the job of finishing repairs on...

    Time for Caulking

The restoration of our 1990 Hi-Lo is progressing nicely. We lubricated the lift mechanism, stripped the rust off all the hitch parts and repainted them. Then we removed all of the old stripes and decals with a putty knife and heat gun, followed up with a citrus based paint stripper to remove...

    New member with roof question

Thanks for the reply. I was wondering how much sealer I should buy. According to the Dicor website I should need two gallons, but every review I've read says that you actually need much less than they recommend. I guess that's not surprising as they are in business to sell as much product as...

    New member with roof question

My wife and I are new to camping and are in the process of restoring a 1990 229D. The rubberized material on the roof was replaced by the previous owner several years ago, but he told me it really needs to be sealed. I did some research and found products by a company called Dicor. Does...
