HELP WANTED! My 1988 HiLo camper will not lower!

My 88 hi-lo funchaser just did the EXACT thing you described. When I pull the cable, the safty bar lifts on the end closest to the door. MY problem is obvious. Fluid is shooting out of the hydraulic Ram when the “up” button is pushed. I’m assuming I blew a seal so there is pressure on the...

    08 Classic 28C w/ generator - It's Been Sold

The time has come to sell my Hi-lo. We love it but just don’t use it enough to justify keeping it. I pull it with a 1/2 ton pickup and gas mileage only drops 2-3 mpg. Front kitchen/living area. It has 2 TVs, dvd, blue led strip under awning, rear camera, power jack, 3 way refrigerator...

Wanted HI-LO Model Approximately 18 to 24 Feet. - No Longer Looking

I have a 2008 classic 28’ with tip out, built in Onan propane generator and front kitchen I’m going to be listing soon-and I’m in east Texas. It was a life saver (literally) when power went out all over Texas. It’ll be $12k 903-724-3702

    Lower door

Hi all. I just picked up another hi-lo that I’ll be “restoring”. The lower door half is gone and has been replaced with a shoddy homemade model. Any idea where I can get one or suggestions on how to improvise?

    Won’t lift with dead battery?

Update Well I will answer my own question for those who may have a similar issue. If you accidentally pull the safety cable on your emergency braking system your brakes will lock and stay locked until you either replace the plug you pulled out or disconnect one of the wires and it WILL drain...

    Won’t lift with dead battery?

I pulled my hi-lo out today to get ready for a trip and the brakes were locked. Evidently the brake away safety got pulled so the brakes locked and drained the battery. Ok.. no problem, I disconnected the switch until I can get a new one. Now it won’t lift even when plugged into shore or tow...

    Maiden voyage

I raised mine up while under my carport as it barely fits when up so the ac unit was up between the carport c-channel beams and a few people asked “how did you do that and how are you gonna get it out of there?”

    Tank monitor malfunction

Thanks for the response... I should have looked a little more through old threads before posting. My question is: is there a way to know if it is a sensor malfunction or could it be I didn’t actually get it drained last time (clogged outlet)? Is there a simple way to check the level?

    Tank monitor malfunction

After our last trip we dumped our tanks like always. Plenty came out. On our next trip the black water tank shows 3/4 full and our grey 1/3 full before even used them at all. I’m assuming (hoping) it’s a malfunction on the monitoring system. Is there a way to know without pulling up and moving...

Does this look factory? Why is it there?

Maybe Rich is onto something-its like that so in the winter it can be put away..?? Maybe it was just easier to put it there..? I think it could have been closer to the wall so it doesn’t hang out like it does. It’s no big deal , it’s just not the best choice of location IMO.

Does this look factory? Why is it there?

Thanks Jim, at least I know it’s supposed to be there. I think I will have my wife sew some sort of a sleeve like the ones covering the vent pipe and wiring in the bathroom to make it “blend in” a little.

Does this look factory? Why is it there?

From the day I first saw my hi-Lo I was puzzled about this heavy wire coming from the upper cabinet. I asked the dealer selling it “what’s this?” And of course he had no idea. I did later determine that it is plugged into a GFCI and it is the power source to the AC unit. The cover it comes...

    First trip with my hi-lo

Well...I’m not Hi-lo expert but I do understand physics.. and I guarantee you...without a doubt-The safety bar does NOT take ANY stress off of the cables (none-zero). But feel free to operate your trailer however you wish.

    First trip with my hi-lo

You just contradicted yourself. The weight IS always on the cables when it’s up..never on the safty bar. The safty bar ONLY holds the ram in the extended position (the cables are still doing all the lifting)

    First trip with my hi-lo

I will jump in and give my opinion: It probably doesn’t really matter much. There is probably only about an inch or less of travel from the safty position and the fully extended ram. If you lower it onto the safty bar it will keep your ram from having to hold the pressure so it may extend the...

    First trip with my hi-lo

I have to respectfully disagree Since I have been working on my cable/pulley system I now understand more how it all works. The safty bar does NOT releave stress on the cables.. the ram YES but the cables are still supporting the weight of the top half. When the safty bar falls into place it...

    Any parts source BESIDES J&R

I’d like to find a place that will make the cables. I’m having trouble finding an economical way of obtaining the cables with the threaded rod sweged on one end. Anybody know of a source?

    Any parts source BESIDES J&R

Oh... and as for the light. I saw the word “Bargman”on the lense so I just went to EBay and typed in Bargman light and found several vendors selling them. Mine was $16.55 with free shipping.

    Any parts source BESIDES J&R

TSC pulleys Ok. I was anxious to get my camper up and tired of waiting for parts so I went to Tractor Supply and found something to work. They are 3” cable pulleys and cost about $14 each. The ones J&R sell are plastic and cost $10 plus shipping. I had to remove the pulley from the housing...

    Any parts source BESIDES J&R

I was needing pulleys.... was told they were in stock and they’d “ship today”. A week later they still hadn’t shipped. Ron basically tried to put the blame on me instead of just accepting responsibility. I found some metal ones at tractor supply (original ones are plastic). They had to be...

    Any parts source BESIDES J&R

I have an 08 Classic 28C. I bought a replacement cable from J&R and it went ok. My next order didn’t go so well. (I will spare you the details) Everyone here seems to speak pretty highly of them so I won’t “rag on them” .... I just think it’s a bad thing when there is only ONE place to shop...
