Hi all. I just picked up another hi-lo that I’ll be “restoring”. The lower door half is gone and has been replaced with a shoddy homemade model. Any idea where I can get one or suggestions on how to improvise?

Update Well I will answer my own question for those who may have a similar issue. If you accidentally pull the safety cable on your emergency braking system your brakes will lock and stay locked until you either replace the plug you pulled out or disconnect one of the wires and it WILL drain...

I raised mine up while under my carport as it barely fits when up so the ac unit was up between the carport c-channel beams and a few people asked “how did you do that and how are you gonna get it out of there?”

Thanks for the response... I should have looked a little more through old threads before posting. My question is: is there a way to know if it is a sensor malfunction or could it be I didn’t actually get it drained last time (clogged outlet)? Is there a simple way to check the level?

After our last trip we dumped our tanks like always. Plenty came out. On our next trip the black water tank shows 3/4 full and our grey 1/3 full before even used them at all. I’m assuming (hoping) it’s a malfunction on the monitoring system. Is there a way to know without pulling up and moving...

Maybe Rich is onto something-its like that so in the winter it can be put away..?? Maybe it was just easier to put it there..? I think it could have been closer to the wall so it doesn’t hang out like it does. It’s no big deal , it’s just not the best choice of location IMO.

Thanks Jim, at least I know it’s supposed to be there. I think I will have my wife sew some sort of a sleeve like the ones covering the vent pipe and wiring in the bathroom to make it “blend in” a little.

Well...I’m not Hi-lo expert but I do understand physics.. and I guarantee you...without a doubt-The safety bar does NOT take ANY stress off of the cables (none-zero). But feel free to operate your trailer however you wish.

You just contradicted yourself. The weight IS always on the cables when it’s up..never on the safty bar. The safty bar ONLY holds the ram in the extended position (the cables are still doing all the lifting)

I will jump in and give my opinion: It probably doesn’t really matter much. There is probably only about an inch or less of travel from the safty position and the fully extended ram. If you lower it onto the safty bar it will keep your ram from having to hold the pressure so it may extend the...

I’d like to find a place that will make the cables. I’m having trouble finding an economical way of obtaining the cables with the threaded rod sweged on one end. Anybody know of a source?
