Jack, I took your advise and put metal plates on the top and bottom of the steel rail where the lift cable goes. It seems to be quite sturdy now. Thanks for all of your imput.

    Lift cable bolt came loose

I think that plan may work. The problem with an L shaped brace is the wood support next to it. Fortunately, the wood seems to be rot free. I didn't want to take the outside or inside wall off, but may have to. I'll search the forum for ways to remove the exterior skin without damaging it. Jack...

    Lift cable bolt came loose

I found the problem and there is probally no easy fix. I have the top raised and supported on all 4 sides. The metal frame where the cable is attached is rusty and the bolt pulled through the frame. There is no obvious signs of water damage and the camper looks great! So now I am faced with the...

Thanks Jack, I will check that out next week after I get home from another trip. Glad I caught it before it failed and caused major damage.

    Lift cable bolt came loose

Just returned from a 5 day camping trip. When putting the camper away, I lifted it to make sure the refrigerator was off and open to dry it out. When lifting, I heard a noise on the left rear side. I investigated and found that one of the lift bolts was almost out. 2000 HiLo classic RD 26. A few...

    Selling 2807C - It's Sold

I have a 26 ft. classic and my Silverado 1500 tows it beautifully. I have the 3.0L Duramax diesel. It is well within my tongue weight range and towing capacity. Having said that, I think the 31 ft would be pushing the limit.

    Low voltage, camping right now.

Thanks, it did turn out to be a blown 30 Amp fuse. It is working great now.

    Low voltage, camping right now.

I think the battery is the problem. Hooked up a battery powered jumper and everything seems to be working. Guess I'll have to go buy a new battery tomorrow.

    Low voltage, camping right now.

Help, I am camping right now and my voltage is really low while hooked to shore power. My battery is really weak. Would this cause my lights and everything to be almost dead even on 30 Amp power?

    Water pump not pumping

Turned out to be my pump. I pulled it and took it apart. The diaphragm had oil on it, so the pump was failing. Works good now.

    Water pump not pumping

Good to see you are still on here Jack! I opened the hot water valves and not seeing any leaks. Ran city water and everything seems to work. Must be the diaphragm on the pump. Sounds like it is pumping, but no pressure after several minutes.

    Water pump not pumping

Just got a 2000 Hi Lo classic 25 RD. I ran water through the city water hook up and everything works. Put water in the holding yank, switched the valve and I can hear the pump running, but no water. I know it had to work when they put it away because there was anti freeze in all of the lines...

    1978 26 ft. Hi Lo project. N.W. Ohio - It's Sold

1978 Hi Lo 26 ft that needs a complete interior remodel. I purchased this in 2019 and had been working on it here and there. It has been in a pole barn the entire time. Got the leaks repaired and lost interest when I found a 2000 Hi Lo in excellent condition. So, the 78 I am selling had been...

    2000 classic frame material

I just found a 2000 HiLo classic 26RD. Does anyone know if the frame on this model is the steel tube skeleton? I searched the sales brochure and it does not say. My 78 Hilo has a steel tube frame

    1978 24 ft. Hi lo

1978 Hi-lo 25 ft. project. It weighs 4k. I purchased this camper 3 years ago with the intentions of fixing it up. However, I have not had enough time to complete it. The camper was purchased new and well maintained for many years, including cable replacement. When the original owner passed, the...

    What is this for?

What is this for? 1978 getting the roof repaired as there were leaks around vents, etc. The bathroom has a motor vent, but then there is this in the bath too. What is it, looks like a chimney, but nothing vents to it and there is no motor. BTW, it is a 1978 model

    Screw removal hell

Hi everyone, been over a year since I've been on here. Took a big trip to Europe last year and haven't worked on the Hilo in over a year. So I am back at it and removing all of the windows, trim and roof vents. Luckily, I have a pole barn to keep it dry. A lot of the screws that hold window...

    Jacking a Hi Lo

I think that I am going to try it this way. It looks safe and easier to do. BTW, for those of you that have a L on the lug bolt on one side and a R on the bolt for the other side. You must turn the lug in the opposite direction for the L side when removing them. https://youtu.be/fMCYLJVm6Xw
