The fridge is directly vented, and if properly installed, the gas area is sealed from the interior. Otherwise you’d get a draft from the outside through that space. And maybe the propane venting into the living space. Less than ideal (if nothing else moisture buildup from the propane combustion...

    New owner of a 96 Towlite 24ft!

What Europe does is irrelevant. I could explain in detail why they do what they do, but in the end it just doesn’t matter, you’re not towing in Europe. Your vehicle is insufficient to tow this load - the fact that your rear suspension is already compressed is testament to that. I think it’s...

    New owner of a 96 Towlite 24ft!

The only towing spec I could find for the Nero is for the 2020, and it’s limited to 2800 lbs. I think this camper is too much for your tow vehicle - the brochure shows it’s *unloaded* weight as 3180 (and we know thats rarely correct), with a GVWR surely at least 500lbs more than that.

    Prospective Hi-Lo purchase concerns

You’ve got the correct GVWR - I looked up the 1508, not the T (which, as Jack pointed out, is a Towlite, so weighs less). Looks like you have 500# to spare in your max for your vehicle, assuming the trailer is fully loaded. I’d run across the scales once you’re loaded for a trip the first...

    Tow vehicle question

According to the brochure, the 2204 GVWR is 5500. My recommendation is to have a tow vehicle that at least meets (but preferably exceeds) the GVWR of the TT. Even then, you have to consider payload (which the tongue weight consumes), max tongue, max axle weight, CGVWR, whether you’ll be...

    Brake manual?

Carter - trailer brake wiring is very simple. Too simple in my opinion (I’m not a fan of floating grounds and all the exposed wiring on trailers, they get too much abuse). Anyway...as with anything electrical, it takes two wires to complete a circuit. One wire is the ground (usually white on...

Toilet repair. Two steps forward one step back.

Sam - toilets use a special bolt to hold them down, they actually fit into the flange. It may be that your flange is broken, and someone decided to just screw the toilet down. Depending on your model, the toilet may sit a couple inches above the floor (just tore a bathroom down in our Funlite...

    Prospective Hi-Lo purchase concerns

Typically TV’s (tow vehicle) with a limit of 3500 indicates it doesn’t have a transmission cooler. This isn’t a big issue if you’re only going to tow occasionally and shorter distances. The longer the tow, the more difficulty there will be keeping the transmission fluid cool. HiLo specs the...

Lol, it was an unintentional jest, but I see it now that you point it out! Yea, I’ve been through the brochures and see some of those indicators, but can only guess at a couple.

Hello and Thank Goodness for this forum

Not meaning to hijack this thread, but question for you TreeClimber - I have a mid-80’s Funlite, need to replace the exterior lower trim (the plastic band that runs around about 6” up from bottom). I can’t seem to find a source - J&R seems not available right now (maybe they’ll come back). Any...

    Hi Everyone! Newbie here

Also check the pulleys, the top ones are under the plastic trim inside, lower ones are underneath/on the side. They’re probably dry too.

    Selanoid question

Clicking sound usually indicates poor current to the solenoid. Usually caused by a bad connection at battery, or a poor charge. Remove your cables at the battery, and clean them with a wire brush, and battery posts too.

    Saz-4201 p

Every auto parts store should carry them. Hugely generic part, were very popular in the racing crowd for handling heavy load circuits. Just ask for a Ford Starter solenoid, they’ll know exactly what you’re looking for. They aren’t specific to HiLo or anyone else. They use a low-current circuit...

OldCamper - the model number indicates length and year. So a 2208 is a 22’ (measured from hitch ball to tail), manufactured in ‘08. 2200 then is a 22’ from 2000. Not sure what the T means.

    Need some help please

You can’t tow it while up - you’re likely to break something. Most any battery will do temporarily, to run the pump to get the top down, though it should have a manual release on the pump itself.

Hello and Thank Goodness for this forum

From the brochure, the 2204 has a GVWR of 5500 - which is your starting point for your TV (tow vehicle). You need a TV that has *at least* that much capability (though personally I prefer to have a bit more capacity). Then as Jack stated, you also have to consider max hitch, and max axle of...

    1508T Advice

Richard- You’re absolutely right, towing in overdrive is a no-no. So for most people: don’t do what I do! Regarding towing at elevation - check your owners manual, it should have a chart or formula to calculate towing capacity loss per thousand feet of elevation. For example, my TV loses 2% per...

    1508T Advice

The 2008 15’ has a GVWR of 3000 lbs. I’ve towed that kind of weight with a modern half ton, and it’s no problem. Most half tons today have at least a 5k max tow. So 3k is well under that. Recently towed a 16’ that’s listed as 2500 empty. I don’t believe that weight, though it maxes at 3500...

Shipping to Hawaii to help provide lost cost tiny homes Need 17s to 33s

I’m curious, is there an advantage to using HiLo’s for this? Seems like other, more conventional campers would cost less per square foot, and be more available, in general.

    Miles per gallon thread.

We recently purchased a 16” HiLo, towed it from PA to CO with a 2006 Honda Ridgeline (5k tow capacity). My unloaded MPG on a cruise like that is about 20-22 mpg. Towing a conventional 17’ box camper I get 12mpg, and feel every passing vehicle and breeze. The Hilo we ranged from 16 to 18, on...
