storage compartment doors

The flexible doors held closed with one thumb latch makes me nervous. I have visions of leaving a trail of tools and black water supplies along our bumpy Nevada roads. Has anyone modified the doors so they stay securely closed? Or has this not been an issue for anyone? Best,
