17 foot towlite

I have a 2009 17' towlite that the left front lift cable snapped on last fall while putting it away for the winter. I got it out again today and while raising the top, the right hand lower rail for the top buckled where the lift cable is attached. I've had perpetual problems with the roof leaking on it since I got it. I'm looking at getting rid of it now. Any ideas on what it may be worth, if anything?

Sorry about your problems.

Have anyone that is interest in rebuilding make you an offer. Other wise strip it for parts/resale.

Wow. What do you think cause these things to break? Did you ever lubricate anything? Honestly, I don't know what kind of force it would take to break both the cable and then the other side rail.

For the roof leak have you heard of Eternabond for all seams?

Is it possible you're gonna try to repair this? I could imagine tearing this thing apart, replacing the structural board and then reassembly with bending and possibly Bondo and repaint. I try to figure out why the stuff is breaking because I don't think that should happen at all ever. Something is weighing that thing down or causing a massive amount of pressure. I've never heard of a factory problem with these especially with your later model. *

HiLo repairs

Where the cable goes under the HiLo is a weak point. Many owners have had to fix reinforce this area. Cable do snap. It is possible to replace cables. This forum has the complete instructions. No one told us to remove our windows when we got our first HiLo. Reapply butyl tape and finish off on the exterior with Lexell casulk. This caused us to spend $1000.00 in material and many hrs repairing the water soaked walls. Maybe some of this damage happened after he got the unit. Some owners are dishonest sellers. The units are sold with damage for the new owners to discover. Not everyone is handy.
