need to know how the lift motor gets grounded ?...ground from the battery goes down under the motor & pump assembly

Bluemoon - welcome to the forum!

I suspect if you take the battery out you'll be able to see how the motor is connected to the negative battery terminal. The wiring diagrams are not clear on this and I think the best way to find out is to trace the wires yourself. With the battery removed, you should have room to do that.

And, I may be wrong, but I think the negative wire from the motor goes directly to the negative post of the battery.

hi Jack, the ground from the battery goes right down under the motor/pump assembly in the black " plastic tub " that houses the side by side battery and motor/pump ...@ A-frame at the hitch..... must be corroded @ connection under the motor/pump .......
2 bolts @ bottom/underside must attach motor/pump & ground the frame together ? ..... had battery out, it's really not in the way since I took the top cover off the A-frame
Thank You

There COULD easily be corrosion at the motor terminal. I don't really think there's a "frame ground" under there, because, as you say, it's a plastic tub. Possibly you can "feel" the battery negative cable under there and see where it attaches that way.

I've never had to trace the negative battery cable, so I'm doing a lot of guessing. The wiring diagram in MY HiLo shows a direct connection.

thanks, I'll post what I do after I get it done...taking break at it for now...it's freezing out side with wind chill !!!!

fixed the problem with the solenoid just clicking but no lift of the top section [with battery @12.8 volts .]
.... problem was the #6 AWG ground wire terminal @ bottom connection to the lift motor [directly from the battery] was corroded badly
..... bottom side of the black plastic tub housing battery & lift motor/hydraulic pump has a heavy metal strap of the frame with 2 bolts that both screw into the bottom of the motor/pump, and the front bolt had the battery ground that grounds the motor and frame
to negative battery terminal... kinda bad setup being on the bottom with moisture able to collect for years there !
