17T top is not level

The top for my 17T is 1 inch out of level. I want to adjust the cables to make all the corners the same distance from the 'top is down' rests. Can I safely assume that the arrangement of the cables underneath the trailer correctly reflects the destination, i.e. cable to front and on the left of the pair is for the front left corner? Seems a no-brainer, but I have seen problems in the past with other 'no-brainers' that really weren't.

Since one corner is significantly higher than the others when the top is up and presumably on the safety bar, should I tighten the other three cables to bring those corners up to the highest one, or the other way around, try to match the lowest corner?

I assume a bit out of level is acceptable, 1/4 inch, or 1/8th, or ??? Is that correct?

What are you referencing for your level condition? As long as the bulb seal between the two halves is touching all the way around, you should be good as is. If you must adjust cables, follow the instructions in the link below.

Thanks for the excellent reference. I too have heard a serious BANG when the top got near its normal raised position. I had no idea what caused the noise and now I have a prime suspect. We'll see when I get into the repairs, though much more than I had envisioned.

The top is now level when raised, thanks to the great reference supplied by RCReyes. no broken cables. The diagram of cable routing was extremely helpful.

If you hear a clunk, it's just the safety bar falling into place.

It drove me crazy trying to adjust those cables. I spent half a day working on it and got it near perfect . Drove it to a camping destination and it changed. And it has constantly changed I guess due to temperature changes. Like another guy posted, as long as the seals are sealed you’re good to go! If someone know the cure to keep it consistent I would like to hear how it’s done.
