I have some water damage on my 1976B. How do I get the top raised up high enough to clear the bottom so I can do all the necessary repairs. I tried to use the cables today and nothing moved at all.

I just need enough clearance between the top and bottom parts to fix the damage and probably replace the seal.

Any help or walk through or video would be greatly appreciated. I have looked all over and haven't found anything that my beginner brain can wrap around.

Thanks

My 1676 2176B needs more than that, but the main problem is I t needs some work on the hydraulic pump (hopefully just brushes).

Using the "Search" above it takes you to several suggestions, but this one, http://www.hilotrailerforum.com/f55/outline-replacing-roof-gasket-220/, is probably the best. However, rather than "Cutting the Cables", I would just take them loose from the Top with the removable Bolt, Here: http://www.hilotrailerforum.com/f17/weather-stripping-2042/. I've never done it myself, but probably should have.

In May, I "upgraded" from my 41 year old 2176B to an only 17 year old 2600TFB. Still, I usually sleep in my Van, and let others sleep in the Hi-Lo!

How to seperate halves

I would have refered you to the same document. You seperate the halves the same way for wall repair. Seal between the halves or repairing wall damage. On our 1990 25ft. Classic DH marked the bolts between the tires on the drivers side . Then he loosened the bolts for the cables to give enough slack to seperate the halves. Get back to us with any questions you may have.

I am very new at all of this. This is my first remodel/repair. And I am grateful for all the advice!
