Just purchased a 1977 Hi Lo camper. It will go down 2 or 3 inches then stop. We know nothing about this camper can anyone help?

Not 100% sure of the older Hi Los, but is there a cable near the switch? If so, raise the top all the way, pull the cable and at the same time lower the top. It sounds as though the top came to rest on the safety bar. If that was done then something may be caught between the top and bottom walls causing the jam.
