1985 funchaser window

My jalousie window regulator has stripped, and if I am going to go to the trouble of repair I would like to replace it with a vinyl NON jalousie window. Preferably side by side slider.
I do have a email sent to JR about this.

It appears to be a 48 x 22 r.o.
Is it a 3" radius and 2" wall thickness, correct or not?
But I definitely want to have all of the parts before I proceed.

Any sellers out there that you can recommend? Or a particular style that you might recommend? Advantages/disadvantages?????

You can try "googling" rv windows. Ebay has new & used windows listed. One outfit was Tri State Surplus. I don't know anything about them, just tossing a possible source out there.

Something to think about. We smashed a window on our HiLo when I got dh too tight in our parking/storage spot. Our HiLo dealer was able to have a glass shop do the repair. I was told by our HiLo dealer that the window cost $600.00 dollars. You might want to keep the window. Think about if you ever sold you trailer you would be better off with the original window. I love our window style because when it rains we can still keep the window open at a slant and don't get wet. If JR can't help you I would take the part to a glass /window install shop. Look on the internet as this may be a common part. Keep us posted.

I agree that having ventilation in a rain storm is nice. And Jalousie windows work very well in warm conditions.
Where I live and camp are quite often not warm and we needed our heater on both of our camping trips this year. Jalousie windows do NOT work well when heating is needed, especially if the regulator/crank is not functioning properly.
I also like the style of window, but repairs are now needed to repair/replace the window regulator. Anyone have a good youtube or other info for the replacement procedure?
What is the thickness of a hi-lo wall? Just in case that is the direction I need to go.
I checked out ebay and found windows for 1 7/8", 2" and 2 3/8" widths, so what are HI-LO's walls? Also can a trim ring for the existing window work for all of the same size?
Does anyone know the regulator brand and number needed for hi-lo windows? Are they the hex style, square, slotted?
I know that would be a stretch, but worth the asking price!

I think Jay Simon in parts at our HiLo dealer may be able to answer some of your questions. If he can't help you steve the service manager may be able to assist you. Mantelli trailer sales at 1-716-625-8877 Our trailer seems much warmer with our seal replacement. Window glass seems to be a cooling factor. Some have made lined curtains. Those that winter camp have made extra insulating pads that Velcro to the window. PPL motor homes in Texas seems to have lots of RV parts. We ordered our toilet riser from them. Kinro is the mfg of the windows on my HiLo. You can go to their web site at Kinro: Industry leader in Recreational Vehicle and Manfactured Housing doors and windows.

Plan "A" - Do you have a vent cover (fridge) on the upper half that you could remove? You would be able to measure the wall thickness this way (I think).

Plan "B" - If J&R can't help with the wall thickness for the window, you can just easily pull the window out yourself and measure the wall thickness.

I had a crank-type regulator break on my previous travel trailer. I removed it and took it to an RV repair/parts place. They were able to match it and sell me a spare.

I removed the old regulator, 1.5 hours. It won't take that long next time.
I had found a new part on-line and have ordered. I ordered 2 so I have a back up for when the next one goes out. $6 per regulator, not tooo bad!

I figure install will take 1 hour to complete.

I emailed JR last friday and have yet to get a response.

If you get a chance, take some photos of the installation process and post them in the Maintenance and Repair section of this forum. Maybe you can also describe the removal/replacement. This may be helpful to others in the future.
