27 Hilo bypass hot water heater

OK, for years I've been mystified by the hot water heater bypass. Despite the book diagram, my system has only ONE valve near the heater. So I thought...

This last year I dug behind the hot pipes and lo and behold, way down at the bottom, buried behind pipes, was the SECOND bypass valve.

Thought it best to admit it, may help others.

Now if I can only figure out the valve in the rear storage compartment...

Hi, Reno. My trailer has three valves. The third valve is for adding antifreeze to the system. You connect a vinyl tube to the inlet by that valve and stick the other end of the tube into a gallon jug of antifreeze. Turn on the pump and it pulls the pink stuff right into the piping (with a faucet open, of course).

I only have two. They got fancier with the newer ones I suspect. I have to disconnect the line from the water tank and connect a small line I have whose other end gets put into the antifreeze jug. I usually take apart the couch to give me better access- which is a major pain. I keep thinking putting in another connector would make sense. maybe this year...if I get the trailer back from the repair shop.

Mine doesn't. Are you saying you get antifreeze coming out of the screw-in hose connector inlet that allows you to use campground water directly without filling the fresh water tank? Or, does the antifreeze come out of the fresh water fill valve that is used to fill the fresh water tank in your trailer?

I can't think why antifreeze should come out of either inlet point actually, unless it's an artifact of not having the bypass valves set properly.

There is a one way valve in the city water connector that has a small O-Ring on it. It allows water to go in but not come out with the water pump on. Sounds like it has popped off. You either have to take it off the trailer, take it apart and reinstall the o-ring or just get a whole new city water connection and install it
