Hello, does anyone have experience with a 2007 17T 50th anniversary model fitting through a 7ft high garage door? We are wondering if the air conditioner on top, or any other high point of the top, makes the height of the closed camper too tall to go under the 7ft garage door opening. We are hoping current or past owners of this model who have experience with a 7ft high garage door will post a reply. We are interested in buying this camper located several hours from us and cannot “try it”. The measurements are close so if anyone has experience with this model and a 7ft door we would appreciate your opinion. Thank you very much.

Valen, I don't know what you mean when you are asking about a 7 ft door. The trailer is 8 ft wide, and you cannot reasonably expect to maneuver it into anything less than 10 ft wide. My trailer carport is 12 ft wide, and I have to work to back it into that.

Now, if your garage opening is 7 ft high, It should just BARELY squeeze in. The "down" height of the roof is 6 ft, but that does not include the Air Conditioner and I don't know if the one on your trailer would add more than a foot to the roof height. As I recall, my trailer's Air Conditioner (which is OEM), adds about 9", so it would have fit except that I added spacers to the axles and mounted larger tires which raised everything about 3 more inches.

So, 7 ft high is a "maybe" in my opinion. It will be close. If you can measure the roof height and the AC height of any trailer you are considering, you will know for sure.

Jack, I am asking about a 7ft high garage door. I went back and edited my original post and added the clarification. Thanks!

I really don't know but consider lettin air out of tires(some) maybe...ot if its realy important maybe find son e smaller wheels and tires that can be used for storage..if you will use and store lots thats prob not worthwhile...I do have a 7High door and when its up I can put a stick under the edge and get about 5" more clearance..

Update:
We purchased the 1707T and it fit through our 7ft high garage door without needing any adjustment. I will try to post more details later. Thanks for trying to help us.

A happy ending to this story! Now, get used to your camper and happy camping in it!

Welcome to the forum.

Congrats on your new to you HiLo. Be sure to watch the operational maintenance videos. We are here to answer any questions you may have.

Thank you. We have watched all of the videos posted on YouTube by sting32 and they are very helpful. We may rewatch some of them.

We have the 2007 50th Anniversary model 19ft, and it fits under our 7' header with space to spare with AC on top. NO ISSUES! We love it! But, if it had been an issue by a couple inches, we would have let some air out of the tires before transiting the door header. BTW, we have stock 15 inch wheels and tire size. Oops, it looks like you already know all this...! Congrats!

Hi Valen, I have a 2009 17T with a Dometic Duo-Therm air conditioner on top. I was able to back it into into my garage with the 7 foot high garage door opening. After backing it in slowly, I found that I had a little over one inch to spare. I have ST205 75/R15 tires on the unit and did not have to deflate the tires. Hope this helps.

Fit Thru 7ft high garage door

I have seen some creative types who have built 1/2” thick flat steel “wheels” that could be substituted for a wheel/tire that would drop the axle closer to the floor to gain clearance. Just an idea for ya’ll.

Thats the best way throw out ideas and possibilities ..Someone will say WOW I never thought of that....

Just a set of rims with no tires would lower about 5 inches

Our 1707T with original wheels and original size tires easily fits under our 7 foot high garage door without any adjustments, see attached photos. Also, we were able to completely raise the camper inside our garage, see photo. We had to make sure that the light fixture on the garage ceiling was between the vent cover and the air conditioner on top.
