As spring is in full bloom here in southern California, which my backyard will attest to. I'd like to remind all members that it's a good idea to check and top off the water in our batteries. Pop those caps off carefully, to keep from getting battery acid on your clothes. Find an old turkey baster and make sure the cells are filled 1/4 to 1/2" above the lead plates inside. If your cells are low, you will need to buy distilled water at the grocery store to top them off with the turkey baster. Tap water contains minerals that will attach themselves to the lead plates and will harm performance over time.

Good tip, I check my water level every 3 months. I just want my batteries to last as long as possible. Dry plates in a battery kills them.

I didn't know how often to check mine so this is at 6 months for me. I only leave the trailer plugged in for a few days at a time so the batteries don't boil dry.

checking the battery for water

Good to get a reminder about checking the water in our batteries. We were lax in checking ours as we were pulgged in for some months during the restoration. Had to add water. Our battery is warm and dry in our fronthallway.
