Just bought brand new battery for HiLo and when hitting button to raise cable broke.......it is broken at the bottom of frame, two pieces hanging where it broke......can this be repaired with a cable clamp or do I need a whole new cable?

Thank you.

Gracie, Sorry to hear about the cable. The cables run thru a series of pullies and depending on where the break is, it must be replaced. That said, I did see a pop-up cable repaired with two cable clamps for the trip home where repairs were completed. I pretty sure this type of repair won't work on a Hi Lo, too much cable movement--could be wrong, I wouldn't chance it. Too much else could go wrong if it fails. My two cents....:(

Search posts on this site for replacing cables or broken cables. Some detailed posts on how to do it.

Broken Cable(s)

Yes I will need to replace all broken cables, but does anyone know how to "manually" lift these HiLo's? Just in case the cost of replacing possibly multiple cables is too much, wanted to know how to manually lift.

Thank you.

Four or more very strong neighbors, OR Farm Jacks. You can get farm jacks at Harbor Freight. Put one in each corner and jack them up one click at a time. Support the top, once up, with 2x4s cut to the proper length.

Replacement cables are not too expensive. You can get ones ready to use at J&R, or, you can make your own with items purchased at ACE or similar hardware/home improvement stores for less cost. I think you WILL have to lift the top to insert the cables though.

You would not want to go camping with broken cables. They MUST be repaired.

If you have a dealer replace all four cables you are talking about $1200.00. If you are not handy maybe you can find some to do it as a side job. It takes at least eight hours to do the job. My friend did his and he reported inventing some new words.
