Cable lifting system

I am replacing the cables in my 69 Snyder Hi Lo. Should the camper be in the raised or lowered position when replacing these cables?

Hi and welcome. Replacement can actually be done with the top up or down, but it is easier with the top up (AND SUPPORTED WITH 4-2x4s TO KEEP IT THERE!)
