First, thanks for your input. I would like to buy a Hi-Lo that fits in my garage. Garage door opening is 7 ft tall and standard two car garage width. The garage is 21 ft deep or long. Would it be possible to back the trailer into a two-car garage had an angle so it would fit in the garage? I'm just curious if anybody's tried that or does it? If not then I'll end up buying a 17 ft. Thank you in advance.

Bob, I don't think so. If you are able to get the trailer through the door, which has to be more than 8 ft wide, you'd have the back of the trailer up against the back wall of your garage before you started to angle it. Then, as you turned the trailer, one corner of the back of the trailer would move backwards against the wall, which would move the front of the trailer forward again, so it still wouldn't fit.

AND, the 22 ft does not include a spare tire, which can add close to a foot to the overall length. My trailer lives under a metal carport shelter I built next to my garage. Do you have room for one of those?

Yup. Pretty much exactly what I was thinking. Looks like I'll have to stick to the 17 footer. I guess I could somehow close this out but I'm a rookie and not exactly quite sure how to do that. If somebody knows how to close it if they could do it for me that would be great

Bob, I can close it - you can't, but I'll leave it open because you are asking a question that is probably of interest to other future HiLo owners, and, someone may have different thoughts on the matter.

Hi, Bob. I bought a 17 ft HiLo as a newbie, so fitting it in the garage has been an experience. First, my wooden garage door sagged just a bit in the middle and wouldn’t clear, so I had to get a new steel roll-up, which I needed anyway. I had to take the spare tire off the back, as mentioned, but that was easy. The factory brochure lists a folding tongue, but apparently that was an upgrade that mine didn’t include, so it’s a tight fit even without the spare tire. The trailer still wouldn’t clear the garage door opening (standard) so I have to take off the plastic air conditioning cover before backing in and replace it when I hit the road. It’s a tight fit with a 17-footer. Can’t imagine 22. But with a few adjustments, I’m in! Best wishes!

We are on our 3rd hilo. they all fit inside our garage and see my measurements below . A normal 8 foot wide door I cannot see it fitting with the awing on 1 side and the little drip pipe for AC on the other side.

We have had 21 foot 23 foot and now 28 foot and

our garage doors are width inside to inside or the rubber seal flap = 112 1/2 inches or 9 feet 4 1/2 inches
gives us space between the gutter for drain of the AC = 6 inches
and the other side 3 inches to the awning
now if been exact center be like 4 1/2 inches space each side

height is
garage door floor to rubber door seal = 95 1/4 inches
space between the low profile AC and door rubber seal = 7 3/8 inches
space between the camper and rubber seal on garage door = 17 5/8 inches

now this 28 foot is actual 28 foot 11 3/4 tip tongue to the camera I install at the tip of rear bumper but that only is about less than 1 inch past end of the bumper.
I do have pictures of this but i do not see where I can attach them

Yep! Thanks for everyone's input. I've come to the conclusion life is not going to be too fun trying to stuff a 22 footer in my garage. So, will be looking to purchase a nice 17 footer. It's just me and my wonderful Brittany spaniel dog. That's enough room for us. I appreciate everyone's input thank you very much. Will see you on the road again

AND, a 17 ft is perfect for Forest Service campgrounds or other 'smallish" boondock campsites!

of course you can. we have our 2208T in a one-stall garage. the depth of our garage meant we had to find one with the removable tongue. made a youtube video of putting it away.

23C in 7 ft garage

Hi I’m not worried about depth as I have 27 ft to work with but does anyone know if a 2005 23C model will fit in a 7ft garage?

The video above and calculations show the 22ft fits, but the 23C is 77” without the AC so not sure if deflating tires will be enough to clear 84”

Thanks!

too tall HiLos

I think the distance between the rim of your tires and the floor/ground will let you know if your trailer will fit through the 7' door.

I have thought about the same problem here in hurricaneland, wanting to get the trailer out of the breeze, but just now reading your post, realized that, knowing it won't fit with the A/C on top. I have a 17' TowLite that just may fit through my 7' high door opening with deflated tires.

The listed "towing height" of the modern trailers is 72" (6 ft) not including the AC. The AC does NOT add another 12", it is less than that (about 9" as I recall).

We Have a 1709T with ac on top. It fits into our car garage. Garage door opening is 82 1/2in open and rv just fits. Not a lot of extra room but we figured that before we purchased the Hi Lo.
