Just wondering, has anyone coated the underside of the floor to protect it from the elements? Since our 2007-TL, doesn't have an "underbelly" as most rv's do, (do any Hilo's have this?) I feel the need to coat with something to give it some protection. And I'm not sure what product would be best.

If it was mine, I would just use a good quality exterior paint. I would not use a coating that could trap water between the wood and the coating.

I had mine coated with no drip oil spray. I was more interested in protecting the frame and all other metal parts. I leave Canada on Boxing day heading for Texas. At that time there can be snow and ice on roads and that means salt!. I told the guy where to pay attention to and where to avoid. Best $50.00 I could spend. Will do it again after 3 years.

Rustproofing underside of HiLo

The first HiLo I had I crawled under and painted with RustOleum, black. The 1996 that I have know was taken to a mechanic friend of ours. He is a former HiLo owner so he knows to stay away from the guide rod and hydrolic system. He has quite a rustproofing business. The products he uses last three years. Then it is recoated. I don't take the HiLo out in snow or ice. The coating is good for rain. I have had two vehicles that he also rustproofed. $ well spent.

On our HiLo I had to replace the bathroom floor; there was a lot of water damage on the entire bathroom floor when we purchased it. Anyway, I first treated the new wood floor with an Exterior Wood Waterproof/Sealer. I then used a good old school automotive undercoating spray. It's been holding up pretty well against the elements and the road.
