Is it recommended to remove the cap and repair crack from the inside? Then I guess you calk on the outside which doesn't look so good. I looked in the library for comments sounds like most just replace the cap, very expensive to do that.

No, I stop drilled my cracks and then filled the cracks with Lexel, pushed it in the crack and wiped off the excess.

Where the crack is on mine the fiber glass is not stable if you push on it it moves so calk won't stay where it needs to be

I took the front and rear caps off to repair cracks in the corners. Repaired on the inside with glass mat/epoxy. An extra layer of glass/epoxy on the outside. Taking those caps off however, is a royal pain in the posterior. Also repaired and dried out the wood that was exposed to water intrusion. All in all quite a bit of work. When you also want to replace the running lights with LED types, be prepared to do some re-wiring since the sockets may not be wired properly. Positive and negative were reversed on my HILO 2208T
