Hello. I own a 2008 Hi-Lo 15T. It is equipped with an Atwood hydro flame 7900-ii furnace that currently will not turn on. It looks like the furnace can only be accessed by opening up the containment box on the inside of the camper. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Jerry

Jerry, I've not had your problem, but I think you are right about the way to access it. In my experience with gas appliances, spider webs can seriously interfere with lighting of heaters if they are formed inside the lighting areas. Also, there is a thermocouple there that senses heat to determine that the furnace has actually lit and if it's dirty, it won't register the flame properly. You simply wipe it off (a service technician wiped the one in my house furnace off on his jeans one time, and it worked like a charm).

I think there's also something called a "sail switch") that can maybe get "stuck". I seem to recall this from many years ago in a post on this forum.

Perhaps someone with better knowledge than I on this appliance will notice this thread and chime in.

Furnice problems

One time our furnice in our 1990 25FT. Classic wouldn't come on . Called our HiLo dealer and DH had to adjust the flame sensor. Look on you tube for pictures and how to trouble shoot a furnice. Through the years we have changed the thermostat. Also bought a new regulator and pigtail hoses. I hate the original thermostat. We purchased a simple digital one at Walmart. Hope you get heat soon.

Hi Jerry,

When you say the unit will not turn on, is the blower running but no heat being produced or is there no activity at all from the furnace? I ask because I ran into a similar problem with my unit (no fan or activity at all) and found there is a master on/off switch inside the access panel of the furnace. Once I flipped that switch, it came to life.

Good luck. Let us know if we can help.

I'm willing to bet it's unplugging and plugging something back in or turning something off for a couple minutes and then back on again.

Sounds like the thermostats have given fits. Good to know.
