Hi
I'm so happy to have found such an amazing resource here, so many people have taken so much time posting things it was actually one of the reasons I got a Hi-Lo in the first place. Our new to us 1996 22L seems like it will be a great fit for our family to make some memories this summer.

I have two questions that probably have obvious answers but I've not found them through search or the awesome video manuals on site.

1) I'd like to sanitize the fresh water system before we use it for the first time. In the videos and other posts I see a reference to a door with a key on the front of the trailer where you can gravity feed a bleach solution. I can't find this anywhere on my Hi-Lo. I've opened every locking door and I do have an external shower locking door near the city water hookup but it just includes an outdoor shower and nothing else. It appears from some posts that some models only fill the fresh water tank through the city hookup, but if so what is the procedure to sanitize, how do you gravity feed the solution?

2) I've flipped every switch to figure out what does what, but there is a single switch in the bathroom I can't figure out. I assumed the proximity to the AC outlet meant it was a control for that but the ac runs either way, I didn't notice any light control either... any ideas?

Thanks so much for taking the time to read!

Hi AZFather - welcome to the forum! I can't help with the water tank, but my trailer has a small, maybe 8" on a side square door in the front lower half of the trailer that contains the fresh water fill port. I wonder if you have to change a valve setting inside to use the city water fill for that purpose? Like you, I can't imagine not having a gravity feed port.

When you say there's no light control in the bathroom, is there a light in there, and does it work? Perhaps the switch is for that light and the bulb is burned out?

If my ideas are no good, someone will be along to give you good suggestions.

Welcome to the forum. See section 8 under plumbing for sanitizing procedure.

A picture of the switch would be helpful.

AZFather, I merged your original thread to this section to prevent confusing responses in multiple threads that can waste your time. I deleted a duplicate post since it wasn't needed.

The link supplied by Ruben, shows there SHOULD be a "Potable Water" gravity fill point (on page 12 of the manual). Look for something like this on your trailer.

AZFather, I believe the switch in the bathroom you refer to is on the lower half of the trailer to the right of the sink. If you use the switch up above the sink to turn on the light, you can then use the lower switch to control the light. That's what we do in our 2006 Classic which eliminates my height challenged wife stretching to operate the light.

Also, our fill port is in the front lower half of the trailer.

AZfather, If that light switch is on the top half near the shower, it could be the "safety switch" for the shower. With the bath light on, some Hi Los had a second switch for the shower only, worked in conjunction with the main switch so the person taking a shower wouldn't get a shock.

Hi
I wanted to follow up in case someone in the future stumbles upon this. I have had this looked at by two professional RV repairpeople and both seem to agree there is no gravity fill on this model. Further more, hooking it up to city water caused the fresh tank to over-expand, bow the floor and keep me from opening the bottom half of the door to get out and turn the water off.... a memorable story but I digress....

I was shown a valve under the jacknife sofa, near the water pump that needs to be switched from shore power water to fresh water tank. On my model you fill the fresh tank by hooking up to city water and opening the ball valve on the clear plastic tube until you hear it draining water. Keeping the ball valve shut while filling the tank results in the aforementioned floor bowing.... I don't want to try that twice!

Also, the switch turns the light in the shower on and off, which is a bit redundant since it also has a switch on the light!

Thanks so much to everyone for their help and suggestions!
