Hello, Our first HiLo

We (Julie and Larry) just bought our first HiLo. It is a 3302S Classic in very good condition and we love it. Our tow vehicle is a 2016 Ram 1500. It tows it nicely but I am surprised by the heavy tongue weight. I added a weight distribution hitch and that works well to level everything out. We have camped in it a couple times and we are ready to go more. Researching on the internet has shown me that brochure, specs or any information on this unit seems to be non-existent. We live in Florida, just a little north of Tampa and our favorite camping is local in FL and in the North Carolina and Tennessee mountains.

Welcome! I'm to the east of you in Polk County. I'm only a few months into Hi-Lo ownership with a 2400. The tongue weight surprised me too! The WDH helps.

Formula, I note that you acquired a Hi-Lo Classic 3302S. As a general rule, the model number is defined as 33 feet in length and model year 2002. Does anyone know the definition of "S" at the end of the model number? If your Classic Hi-Lo is actually 33 feet long, does it rest on triple axles? I would love to see pictures, as I have only seen two of these in my lifetime. Because of the size of this Hi-Lo, I can see why the hitch weight would be up there!!

I was curious about that too, maybe "S" denotes Special Order? That would indeed be quite a find. Welcome to the forum Formula.

Welcome to the forum.

I remember some one mentioned that one particular dealer special ordered 33ft. HiLos. Maybe six or eight a couple years in a row. Then HiLo got rid of the jigs.

I measured it...33 ft rear bumper to hitch. The dealer that sold it to me said that there were only a few made and that they did not appear in any brochure. After a lot of research my insurance company found a new 2002 sale price but could not find any current value information. I dont know what the "S" denotes.
The layout looks similar to the 3102.

I dont know how to post pictures, if you can help me with that I will post pics. Or give me an email and I can send them that way.

Hi Larry, and welcome! To post photos, after hitting the reply button, scroll down to "Additional Options" then click on "Manage Attachments." A new window should pop up.

Then hit the "Browse" button to locate the photos you want to upload, then "Upload." I find that I need to upload them one at a time so just repeat the process for each photo. The photos should appear in your post after you hit "Submit reply." There are some restrictions on the type of files the forum will support but the most common formats are supported. Good luck!

Someone took great care of that Hi-Lo and possibly stored it inside during its fourteen years. Did you find the particulars for GVW (gross vehicle weight) and hitch weight on the camper? I would be curious as to what those numbers are.

I haven't been able to find any specs on the 3302. The 3101 in the brochure shows a weight of 5820 lbs and hitch weight of 700 lbs. I am guessing the weight to be a little over 6000 lbs and the hitch to be between 700 and 800 lbs. With a weight distributing hitch it tows fine. Because of the length and width I am not comfortable yet backing it without a spotter, so I am going to mount a camera on the rear.

We went camping again this week and do love the extra space inside.

You may want to take it to a scale to get actual weights as it may weigh more than you think. For instance, the listed hitch weight on my 24 foot model is 520. Actual weight measured on a CAT scale is 720. Just sayin' . . .

357, Four guide blocks on each side! That's a long trailer! Does it still have 4 lift cables or are there more? Very interesting/impressive. Can't wait to see more of it. Where in Fl. are you? Might be worth a drive to see that.
