Hello all. We just pulled home our familys first camper a Tow Low 1000 deluxe. We're happy to join the group and look forward to the learning experience of getting it ready for use this coming summer. The seller had lost the title but wrote us a bill of sale. The problem we are having is locating the VIN. Usual place on trailers is on the hitch but no luck. Did Tow Low place the VIN in another location or am I just missing it?

No luck on finding where the Tow Low VIN is located but after a little digging in the street side overhead cabinets you pointed me to I did manage to find the TITLE. Now on to replacing those lift cables. I have a feeling this will be a learning experience!

Really glad you found the title! Replacing the cables is no fun job, but rewarding. Take your time, think two steps ahead. Each time a person replaces their cables, a new path is used and even following someone else's instructions, you'll find a slightly different method that works for you. Just a hint, I found that sitting the cable coiled in very light oil prior to install really allows that oil to soak in well, and install seems easier. In one case we used a heavy plastic bag and kept spraying oil on the cables. Even with the cable TOUCHING the oil, it will absorb it.

The previous owner had started the process but they had purchased coated cables which I'm thinking are not going to work. They have all of the cables detached and the top is down so I got my work cut out for me. It looks like 1/8" inch cable was used as original equipment? Was this cable stainless?

Brist - the original cable will rust, so it's not stainless. I think you can buy equivalent cable in home improvement stores. I doubt that stainless cable would have the needed tensile strength.

Pull up this old document.

Cable replacement in my 1998 24TD. 3-3-2010. It is fifteen pages of instructions and colored pictures on cable replacement. Best of luck with this repair.
