how do I access the cable termination points on the top? I understand the operation of the cylinder, shaft and puiiys but I don't really se e how I can get to the area where the cable terminates on the top. Any help would be appreciated.

Is there a manual way to raise and lower the trailer if your cable breaks? WE have a 1972 Bon Voyage. That is my husbands greatest fear.

You either need the assistance of some strong friends, or you need to use something like one or more farm jacks (depending on how many cables have broken). You'd need one jack per broken cable. Then, once the top is up, you have to support it with something like a 2x4.

You can generally avoid a cable breakage if you inspect and lubricate the cables once a year. Look especially at the part of the cable near the ends where it goes over the topmost pulley. They seem to rust and fray in that area, from what I've read.

Referring to your PM to me:

I will upload the cable replacement file. It is in PDF form and requires you to have Adobe Reader on your computer to open it.
