Is there a forum that helps me with information about renovation on a 1989 Hi lo tow lite ? I have a few questions .

One what is the exterior made out of ? Can I paint it completely with some kind of sealant ? Like Kool seal the whole thing . Even though I don't see any visible leaks just to ensure none happen . Then paint the whole thing a standard tan color ? What are major problems or issue I need to look for . I purchased a 1989 Hi Lo fun lite today and have no idea how to ensure I have years of use our of it .

I'm a bit confused. Do you have a Towlite or a Funlite? The construction and repair methods are somewhat different. The best way to ensure no leaks is to do preventive maintenance. On units of this vintage iit is a must to carefully inspect the roof caulk and all caulk points on the HiLo. Next I would pull all the windows and reseal with butyl tape and Lexell caulk. Watch the operational videos. Ask any questions and we will answer them.

Ha I thought a tow lite and fun lite where the same . I am not around my paperwork but I believe it is a fun lite . Would I be able to paint the material after I put sealant on it ?

If you really wanted to paint it I would remove all trim , exterior doors , appliances such w/h door , furnace exhaust vent , kitchen exhaust vent and windows
Then paint and put back together

According to the brochure collection the Towlite first came out in 1992. The Funlite continued for a few more years. It was a cross between the Towlite and the Classic.

KellyAnn, If you want to SEAL it do as campthewestcoast suggests, but I think I would first get rid of any shiny spots with sandpaper, then prime, then paint. This will seal it very well. I do NOT suggest applying sealant to the entire exterior, depending on the type paint selected, it probably won't stick well.
Resealing the windows are a must. There are several posts covering this. Use the "search" heading at the top. You can also find the operational videos there.

And, KellyAnn - what kind of roof does your trailer have? If it's metal, then KoolSeal or another elastomeric equivalent will work well. But, if it's a rubber roof, you need to use a product that is especially formulated for that kind of roof.

KellyAnn-we just re-roofed our 2002 19TL. It had an EPDM like roof that was very dried out and was lifting in the front. There is a thread out that shows lots of pictures and how we did it and where we sourced the materials. As all these projects go the prep is the most work ! Good luck !!
