how to repair or get replacement awning

when I bought this $700 gem, it had been sitting under a tree for 3 years. the awning had lots of leaves between the edge and roof. the awning material where it attaches to the trailer side is ripped 2/3 of the total length of the awning. can I cut it the rest of the way down and fold it over and sew the loop back in it and reattach it? or is it just easier to replace the entire awning?

Yes it can be repaired that way.

These folks said that if I send them just the awning that they will attach it to a newly made canvas bag/new zipper and return it to me in a timely manner for $70. Think I shall give them a try.

Repairing awning

You would also have the cost of postage and possibly tax. This might be the answer for you. If you have a canvas awning shop close by you could get an estimate from them. Boat shops also do this kind of work. If you have a zipper bag un zip it and store it indoors for the winter. The cold weather rots the bag stitching faster as per our RV dealer. Any way you go the repair will be much cheaper than a new awning.
