I am a new poster and new owner of my first hi-lo....22' 1997 Breeze. My question is this: I am storing the trailer outside for the winter and am wondering if I need to remove the battery and store it, or, can I leave the battery in the camper for the winter and just plug it in with a extension cord to keep it charged for the winter? Also, what are the long term effects to the battery if I do this? I have read through other threads but I did not see this scenario. I am new to owning a trailer so any and all advise would be appreciated!

As long as you keep the battery charged, it should not be a problem leaving it in. I connected a trickle charger to mine and I plug it in every once in a while when I'm not doing something in my trailer, which is usually plugged into the house. I bought five trickle chargers at $4.99 a piece at Harbor Freight on sale. (Still using the first one since Feb. with four on ice just in case.) I also use a solar panel.

The trickle charger is the best advice as it can be left on all the time. The built in charger tends to overcharge which boils out the water in the battery, you can use it but don't leave it plugged in all the time and check the battery water often. If your like me, I forget to plug it in and then forget to unplug it. Leaving it out side is ok but it must be kept charged. If you choose to bring it inside it still needs to be kept charged.
