Leveling

Hi all,

This trailer is the first vehicle I have owned that has tandem axles. Is it OK when leveling the trailer to have one of the tires hanging up in the air while the other one (same side) is on the leveling block? Can the frame be tweaked by doing that?

I always pull up onto blocks with both tires on the same side on the same hieght of leveling blocks. It takes the extra stress off of the frame if only one axle were supported.I line up about 4 feet of lego lockiing leveling blocks and pull up on the whole thing.

That's good to know. The kind of levelers I have won't go under both tires because they are too long to fit inbetween the front and rear tire:

Camco Tri-Leveler - Walmart.com

Looks like I'll need to get the lego type!

Another option is a couple of, or one long, pieces of 2x6 with one end beveled. I find, at least in established camping areas, that I rarely need w more than two inches to level off one side. I agree that you should support both axles.

Looks like I'll need to get the lego type!

I use the 10 pack in the same ad. They also help on the stabilization jacks and the tongue jack foot if you are on soft ground.

Yeah, I think that was the kind Les was talking about. I might try Rick's idea of just putting a 2x6 under the other the tire first. If that doesn't work, I'll buy the stackable kind. I've temporarily put a wooden wedge under the tire to help support it for now.

I purchased the Andersen leveling system for my 2302. They can be long if your tandem axles are close, but you can cut away up to the front four inches to allow them between the two tires.
