Hi all:
We're relatively new to the world of Hi-Lo's but our son bought one last summer. What a great trailer! Since I help him maintain it, we've run into a problem and I'm hoping someone can help. While on the road last month returning from the Grand Canyon, we had a tire explode. Unfortunately, it was the right front tire on his 1997 26FB. The tread came off and tore out a piece of the trailer floor immediately to the rear of the entrance door. As some of you might already know, that's where the panel with all the switches is located. The rocker switch that raises and lowers the upper half was gone, and most of the wires that feed the other large rocker switch had been torn off. The other switches stayed in the panel but the wires have been torn off. We managed to trace the wires for raising and lowering the upper half so were able to finish the trip, but we had no 12V power to the trailer so had no lights except some battery operated camp lanterns. I've managed to find a wiring diagram here in the reference library that I think will help me get all the wires back in place and get the 12V system up and running again, but I still need some switches and the wooden switch plate to which they are mounted. I understand from a previous post that J&R no longer supplies parts, and so far, three e-mails to the people at the "official" Hi-Lo parts website have not been answered. We'd like to go out again, but with a big hole in the floor and a rat's nest of wires not connected to anything, we can't. I can't fix the hole in the floor until I get the wiring corrected. Any help you folks can offer will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
...............................Tim

You should be able to get the switches at any trailer parts place,as for the wood you will have to fabricate that your self or take the trailer to a dealer that does repairs. Search thru the forum there was a guy selling out a HI-LO in parts.

Hyroir says J&R no longer sells parts. Have I missed something. We just got Their business card at the Rally. Are you confusing JR Enterprise which is no longer in business with J&R Trailer Repair ph# 419-883-3001 which is still in business. Give them a call.

window parts

I too am waiting for a return email because I am looking for emergency window red latch. I email hi-loparts@gmail.com Joel sent back a email on June 26 said give him a few day he might be able to get them. So far no answer. The phone number on the website is 419-886-0008 It this the wrong person to contact? Maybe someone knows where I can find the parts.

Getting parts

I believe their is some confusion because both HiLo repair places are in Ohio. My Husband called Jr Repair for one part and some advice. He never received a return phone call. 716-284-5433. Bill.

I think everyone should check out the under cabinet areas in front of the wheelwells. The wheelwell is not one piece and is assembled with a crimp fit. It is not screwed or rivoted (poor design in my opinion). When I had my front right tire blow out on me, it created all kinds of damage - broken wires, shredded furnace ducting, and holes in my kitchen water lines. I posted pics with my post after it happened last year. I was even pulling out steel belting wires out of my 110v romex wiring, flooring, and the sidewall under the cabinet. After repairing the sheetmetal in the wheelwell and screwed it in place, I attached a piece of 3/4" plywood with angle brackets to the side wall and floor in front of the repaired wheelwell under the cabinet. If I have another blow out, it will not cause the damage that it did before. Check under the cabinets now as it will prevent alot of grief in the future.

Trailers by other manufactures have the same problems when a tire blows out, a friend got $800.00 and my son got $600.00 damage, neither were HI-LOs. It would require heavy sheet metal to stop damage.

Thanks for the help, folks. I may have confused JR with J&R. I may try to call them. As far as the flooring, I can repair that myself as I'm a pretty fair wood fabricator. What I really need is an accurate wiring diagram. I found two of them here but neither is very detailed about the wiring to and from the main rocker switch. I still have that switch but half of the wires have been torn off. I have new connectors installed but now just need to figure out what goes where. I'll keep you all posted.

Look in the reference library under electrical for the Hi-Lo 2306 primary wiring diagram. This is the best diagram I have found for the electrical system, much better than the one in my owners manual. Hope it might be helpful for your model.

We called J&R Repair 419-883-3001 before leaving on our 6+ week trip for parts and Rob called back within a couple hours and that was June 12th 2011 so I'm not sure why anyone would say they're out of business. He overnited the part we needed and we left on June 20th.

Sam

I'm not familar with the number you posted here is the number we called and ordered our part and got advice. He even overnighted our part. Talk to Rob 419-883-3001 very nice gentleman and very helpful.

The phone # I posted is our home phone in case they checked the forum. Been very busy and haven't tried to contact them again. Will do so this week.

Blowout!

Hello, I'm brand new to the forum and Hi Lo.

We just bought a 2007 Towlite 19t that we really like. We took it out to Rocky Mountain National Park over the 4th of July week.

Everything was well with the camper but on the way back through Iowa the driver's side wheel exploded. So much damage occured I still cannot believe it. A pan is still near the highway somewhere.

I was wondering if I took it to J & R where the old factory is; if that would be the best place to get the thing looking like it did when we bought it?

Thanks

Getting trailer fixed.

Since you are in Ohio I would take it to J&r for an estimate of repair work. Then you can decide what you can afford and or want to do your self.
